A classic Disneyland theme park location is now closed, though guests won’t have to go too long without it.

Disneyland has bid a temporary goodbye to its iconic Main Street Cinema as work continues on the installation of a new tribute to the Sherman Brothers. The legendary songwriting duo played a crucial role in developing music for The Walt Disney Company, ranging from original film score to theme park tracks.
The Main Street Cinema closed on Tuesday, July 15, and will remain closed through Wednesday, July 16. The cinema is scheduled to reopen on July 17, which just so happens to be the 70th anniversary of Disneyland Park. The Sherman Brothers tribute is just one way that the Disneyland Resort is celebrating its birthday, with all kinds of events, parties, and special experiences taking place over the next year.
Not much is known about what the Main Street Cinema will look like once the tribute is in place, but once it reopens, a new three-and-a-half-minute short film titled “The Last Verse” will play. The film can be seen below:

This isn’t the only update coming to Disney’s original West Coast theme park resort. Earlier this year, Disneyland confirmed the closure of Monsters Inc. Mike and Sully to the Rescue, a Monsters Inc.-themed dark ride. The attraction will close permanently in 2026 to make room for Disneyland’s upcoming Pandora expansion. The Avatar-themed land will operate similar to the one seen at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, transporting visitors to the fictional alien world of Pandora.
Exact details remain unclear, though concept art shows a water-based ride as well as other smaller-scale attractions. It’s theorized Disney may create a copy or secondary version of Avatar – Flight of Passage, a motion simulator ride, for its West Coast Pandora.
Upgrades are also on the way for Disneyland’s Avengers Campus. The Marvel-themed land opened at Disney California Adventure back in 2021 and has become a much-discussed part of the park and resort as a whole. Two new attractions are in development for the land, a major “E-ticket” ride and a smaller motion simulator experience.
