Could a Favorite Show Be Returning to it’s Pre-Covid Form?

At Walt Disney World, there are incredible shows all over the four theme parks. There are so many talented singers, dancers, and just overall performers in the Central Florida area that you know the shows are going to be incredible.

A favorite for many is Festival of The Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This beloved show returned in May of 2021, but it was on a smaller scale. It also had a new title called a “Celebration of Festival of The Lion King.”

 

We’re missing many of the things you know and love about the show, and although it was great to have it back in some way, you could still count all the things you miss.

 

The tumble monkeys we’re not a part of the show, and the flying birds now dance instead of taking flight.

A good sign that the full show might be returning is if you go on Disney Auditions. They are currently auditioning local dancers to Central Florida to Celebration of Festival of The Lion King. Here’s how it is said on the official Disney Audition page:

 

“Disney Live Entertainment is accepting Online Submissions from Dancers to portray Male and Female roles for Celebration of Festival of the Lion King, an African-inspired celebration of the music from the feature film; an original musical theatre production performed live in the state of the art, indoor, 1500 seat theatre-in-the-round in Disney’s Animal Kingdom®, performed live at the Walt Disney World® Resort near Orlando, FL.”

 

Disney is hiring the character of Maji which is explained as:  “Female identifying dancer 5’1″ to 5’4″ with excellent ballet technique, strong partnering skills, and the ability to perform at heights. This character may perform an aerial routine that involves flying in the air. Due to aerial equipment safety protocol, this role must maintain a weight of 110 lbs. or lower and must be within the 5’1-5’4 height bracket”

 

Not only are they hiring Maji but are also looking for Moto “Male identifying dancer 5’10” and above, with excellent ballet technique, lift/partnering skills, and strong athletic build.”

 

Last but not least, back in December Disney Auditions was also hiring done actors with Stunt Actors with Tramp Wall Experience.  “Disney Live Entertainment is actively seeking submissions from Stunt Actors with Tramp Wall experience for an offering at the Walt Disney World® Resort near Orlando, Florida. We are seeking candidates for Part Time and Sub Positions.”

This was not specifically titled for Festival of The Lion King, but it sounds like the exact experience the tumble monkeys would need.

Although Walt Disney World has not given any official announcements about the return of the full show, the fact that they are hiring performers is a very good sign. We will let you know if they give any dates or other details.
