Discover More About Mouse of Muse

If you are at EPCOT you’ll probably want to stop by the new Creations Shop. One thing to notice while at the new shop is the Mouse as Muse sculptures. Zach Riddley shared on Instagram a little more about three of them:

“Today I get to share our last three “Mouse as Muse” sculptures and the artist inspiration and intent that brought them to life in Creations Shop at EPCOT.

Our first sculpt is inspired by the bright and colorful collaborative process of “making.” This artist used color to represent his joyful feelings of working on a team and creating beautiful things together. The colors, just like teammates, work side by side, and complement one another while remaining distinct, vibrant, and powerful. All of these colors flow and vibe together to create one beautiful piece.

This next mouse is unique, but perfectly EPCOT! In the past few years, topiary art has become a major focus of the artists ever-growing career at Walt Disney Imagineering. Through her partnership with the Walt Disney World horticulture team, she has learned more about this new art form that utilizes living plants to create new pieces, and how to use her craft to bring life and personality to our favorite characters in each season across EPCOT. This mouse represents not just the topiaries we see in EPCOT, but also the message that growth and evolution is part of life and her creative process.

Last, we see our pal Mickey Mouse in a vintage style. The artist shared that, for her, Mickey Mouse represents boundless imagination that crosses generations and time. For this piece, she wanted to evoke feelings of nostalgia – of carefree and imagination-fueled childhood make-believe. She had a Mickey Mouse souvenir as a friend, and he was her constant companion growing up. While well-worn now, he is still a cherished memento. That memory and experience provides her inspiration even today. That’s the power EPCOT stands for.

I want to thank each artist who contributed to these one-of-a-kind sculptures. Thank you for allowing me to share your stories that represent countless others who look to EPCOT as a place of hope and inspiration – past, present and into this future we are making our reality each day.”
