Some Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party traditions do not announce when they change. You just show up and find out.
Powerline Max has been one of the most reliably beloved parts of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party since 2022. Max Goof, dressed as pop superstar Powerline from A Goofy Movie, appears with a crew of backup dancers in unapologetically 1990s outfits. It became the kind of thing people specifically looked forward to, partly because A Goofy Movie has aged into genuine cult status and partly because it was just a good time.
For years, the routine ran on Main Street, U.S.A., shortly before Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade. It gave guests something to watch while they waited, and more importantly, it got people on their feet dancing instead of sitting on a curb checking the time.
It also came with a catch that tripped up a lot of guests, and we wrote about that catch back in 2022.
This year, the format changed entirely.
What Changed for 2026 at Disney
Max Goof is once again ready to “Stand Out” at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. But his Powerline-inspired dance party is now a roaming stage show performed at several locations throughout the night.
It is no longer performed prior to Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade.
During the first party of the season, Max was found performing with his Powerline Party Pack on the Adventureland Stage. Later in the evening, the stage show turned up at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Tomorrowland.

Max did not perform on Main Street, U.S.A., before the parade at all this year.
Why This Is Actually Good News for Disney Halloween Party Guests
Losing a pre-parade tradition sounds like a downgrade. In this case, there is a strong argument that it is not.
Here is the problem the old format had, and we covered it directly in 2022.
When Powerline Max debuted, Disney’s announcement said partygoers could see Max Goof cosplaying as Powerline alongside his 90s crew before the Boo-To-You Parade. What was not clear was that Max only appeared on Main Street, U.S.A. He did not walk the full parade route.
Max and his crew came out from Center Street. Which meant if you were watching the parade from Frontierland, Liberty Square, or near the castle, you saw nothing.
That is exactly what happened to us at the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2022. We watched the parade from Frontierland and completely missed Max, not knowing beforehand that he would not be leading it the whole way.
That was a genuinely frustrating experience, and it happened to a lot of people. You could do everything right, get to the parade route early, secure a good spot, and still miss the offering entirely because you picked the wrong land.
The roaming stage show format removes that problem. Multiple performances at multiple locations across the night means far more guests get a shot at seeing it, regardless of where they choose to watch the parade.
More Chances, Different Feel
The tradeoff is worth naming honestly.
What is gained is access. Two confirmed locations on opening night, Adventureland Stage and Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, means guests spread across the park can catch it. You are no longer forced to be standing in one specific stretch of Main Street, U.S.A. at one specific moment.
What is lost is the buildup. There was something effective about the pre-parade format, where a crowd already gathered and waiting suddenly had a reason to get up and dance. That energy is harder to replicate at a stage show where people wander up.
Neither version is wrong. They are just solving different problems.
What the Powerline Look References
For anyone unfamiliar with why this character’s appearance means so much to people, the context matters.
Max’s Powerline look references the climax of the 1995 animated film A Goofy Movie, in which Max dresses like pop superstar Powerline and eventually joins his father, Goofy, onstage during the singer’s concert.
That scene is the emotional payoff of the entire movie, and A Goofy Movie has developed a devoted following in the decades since. Seeing Max in that outfit, performing with dancers, is a direct callback to one of the most beloved moments in the Disney animated canon.
The offering itself dates back to 2022, when Max debuted the costume at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and periodically performed with dancers on Main Street, U.S.A.
How to Catch It This Year
A few practical notes for planning your party night.
Since it is now a roaming stage show with multiple performances, check the My Disney Experience app for showtimes and locations on your party date. Locations may vary night to night.
The Adventureland Stage and Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe were both used on opening night, which puts performances in two very different areas of the park.
And unlike the old format, you no longer have to sacrifice your parade viewing spot to see it. That alone makes party planning easier, since Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade runs at 8:15 p.m. and 11:15 p.m., and the Hocus PocusVillain Spelltacular and Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks both have their own fixed times to work around.

If Powerline Max was on your must-see list, the good news is your odds just improved considerably. The bad news, if you were attached to the pre-parade version, is that it won’t be back this season.
Either way, knowing before you go beats finding out from the wrong side of the parade route.
