This fall is shaping up to be a busy time for the Walt Disney Company with Disney+ Day scheduled just ahead of this year’s D23 Expo.
Kicking off a weekend of exciting announcements and news across Disney Parks, Resorts, streaming, and more, Disney+ Day will include premieres, updates, and activations at in-person Disney events.
What exactly is Disney+ Day? Let’s take a look at what we know so far!
Disney+ Day began in 2021 when the Walt Disney Company launched the event to celebrate the second anniversary of Disney+’s original launch.
This year’s event takes place on September 8, 2022, the day before the 2022 D23 Expo, which runs September 9-11, 2022, at the Anaheim Convention Center near the Disneyland Resort.
Ahead of Disney+ Day last year, Disney made several announcements for new programming that would launch on the streaming service, including titles from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Marvel, and Lucasfilm. This year, however, announcements so far have been quiet, so many fans are expecting some news of exciting new content to be announced on Disney+ Day.
The full schedule of panels and presentations has now been released for this year’s D23 Expo, and there is no panel exclusively focused on Disney+, unless announcements are made in other segments focused on Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm.
Disney+ Day was mentioned earlier today by Disney CEO Bob Chapek in the Walt Disney Company’s 2022 Q3 earnings call, alongside other news for the streaming platform that ad-supported versions of Disney+ and increased pricing for the service and its bundled offerings will roll out later this year.
Of course, many are more interested in new titles that could be coming to the streaming platform, especially if they will soon be considering whether the increased price points will continue to have value for fans.
We will continue to monitor updates for Disney+ Day and additional news for Disney’s exclusive streaming platform and will be back with additional information as we have it here on DisneyTips.
