Disney Dining Tips No One Talks About

mickey-dining-tips

With over 400 dining options spread throughout Walt Disney World Resort, dining know-hows are especially important on a Disney vacation. There are however a few dining tips that even Disney pros don’t seem to talk much about. So, scroll with us as we let you in on our Walt Disney World dining tips and secrets!

Dine Upstairs

You’ve Mobile Ordered from the My Disney Experience App. Your meal is ready and you have a tray full of food and drinks but the endless sea of crowds makes it seem impossible to find a table. Tip – dine upstairs!

Some of Disney’s quick-service restaurants such as Columbia Harbour House, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, and Pinocchio Village Haus all have upstairs seating that is often forgotten and much less crowded. Another upstairs favorite is at PizzeRizzo at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Head upstairs for a better chance at finding a table.

Eat Off the Kids’ Menu

Feeling too full for an adult meal but want a smaller meal to beat the cravings? Order off the kids’ menu! At a quick-service restaurant, adults can order off the kids’ menu with no issues. If you are at a table-service restaurant, you can ask a Cast Member if ordering from the kids’ menu is allowed and most of the time they will say yes.

The only catch here is for pre-paid or one-price meals that you book in advance with adult pricing and children’s pricing, such as at Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. Then, pricing is based on age and can’t be adjusted.

Breakfast Is Cheaper

Looking to save the budget? Breakfast at table-service restaurants throughout Walt Disney World is cheaper meals vs. lunch or dinner. Save those dollars and enjoy breakfast as your big meal for the day.

Space 220 Lounge Is Best

We love Space 220 in EPCOT’s World Discovery neighborhood. Just steps away from the popular Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Space 220 restaurant has Guests taking an elevator into space 220 miles above EPCOT (all pretend of course). What many don’t know is that the restaurant AND the lounge take advanced dining reservations 60-days in advance.

If you book a Space 220 restauratnt reservation you will be charged one set fee per person in your party. At the lounge, however, you are charged based on what you order. Have a full meal or just enjoy an appetizer and drinks if you’d like! Space 220 Lounge provides that ideal dining freedom to pick and spend what you want.

Last Reservations = VIP Exeperience

Many of the Disney Parks offer dining reservations at the same hour the Park closes. Let’s say the Park closes at 9:00 pm. Try to book that time slot. When exiting your late-night dining experience, it’ll feel like you have the Park all to yourself! This is a perfect time for photos with an empty Park as Guests left an hour or so ago.

Too Late to Cancel? We Think Not

Have you ever wanted to cancel your Disney World dining reservations on the day of your reservation but were blocked from doing so in your My Disney Experience App? You can call Disney directly and have them cancel the dining reservation, but the time on hold is usually lengthy.

Here’s a tip! “Modify” your reservation in the My Disney Experience App. This will allow you to move the reservation to another day in the future. Once the reservation is moved to a different date, you can then go in and cancel because it’s not the day of your reservation anymore.

Refillable Alcohol

Looking for the best and cheapest way to enjoy some delicious adult beverages while at Disney Springs? Time to head on over to Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’. Chef Art’s offers a refillable water bottle for select alcoholic beverages.

Guests pay one price for the bottle and to have it filled. If you finish that bottle, you can get a very discounted refill. Coming back to Disney Springs in the future? Bring that same bottle and they will give you the discounted refill time and time again.

Alcohol is at Magic Kingdom

While yes, Magic Kingdom was once a dry Park, Guests can now enjoy alcoholic beverages at all of its table-service restaurants. Staying for the Fireworks Dessert Party? Alcoholic beverages are unlimited for ticketed Guests!

Water Is Free

It’s HOT at Walt Disney World! Don’t pay that $4.00 for a bottle of water. Instead, approach any quick-service location and ask for some water. They will give everyone in the family a free glasses of water. This is the perfect way to stay hydrated but save the budget!

Get a Landry’s Card

There are 4 different Landry locations found within the Walt Disney World property including Rainforest Cafe at Disney Springs, T-REX Cafe at Disney Springs, Yak & Yeti Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Rainforest Cafe at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Join the Landry’s Club. Once you’re a member, you can walk up and ask to be seated and they will push you to the front of the waitlist because you’re a Landry’s cardholder. A little priority seating secret few know about!

Cheap Castle Views

Did you know there is a quick-service location with cheap Cinderella Castle views at Magic Kingdom Park? While most people talk about Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café quick-service restaurant and see Sonny Eclipse the animatronic, we always head to the back corner of the restaurant which offers excellent Cinderella Castle views for the quick-service pricing.
