Magic Kingdom guests have spent nearly six months walking past one familiar location without being able to step inside. Now, Walt Disney World has confirmed that the lengthy closure is almost over.

Big Top Souvenirs has been unavailable since February, leaving a noticeable gap in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland. While Magic Kingdom has plenty of places to shop or grab something sweet, this location has long combined both experiences under one colorful circus tent.

Disney World has officially announced when Big Top Souvenirs will reopen, and the company is already teasing some of the changes guests will find inside.

After nearly six months behind closed doors, Big Top Souvenirs is ready to welcome guests back.

Big Top Souvenirs Has Been Closed Since February

Big Top Souvenirs sits in Storybook Circus, the colorful section of Fantasyland that’s also home to Dumbo the Flying Elephant.

Instead of looking like a traditional Disney merchandise store, Big Top Souvenirs carries a circus theme that fits naturally into the land.

Inside, guests can browse Disney merchandise and stop for sweet treats, making it a convenient snack stop in Storybook Circus.

However, Disney closed Big Top Souvenirs on February 20, 2026.

Weeks became months, and the location remained unavailable through the spring and most of the summer. Now, Disney has finally put an official end date on that shutdown.

Disney Confirms Big Top Souvenirs Will Reopen August 21

Walt Disney World has confirmed that Big Top Souvenirs will officially reopen at Magic Kingdom on August 21.

Disney is also making it clear that guests aren’t simply getting the same experience back. The company teased that the refreshed location will feature “sweet surprises and tasty treats.”

While Disney hasn’t revealed every detail, it has offered a preview of several treats associated with the returning location.

The teaser suggests Big Top Souvenirs will continue leaning heavily into the circus-inspired desserts that helped make it a popular stop before its closure.

Some treats also feature Mickey Mouse and Dumbo designs, connecting the food directly to nearby Disney characters and attractions.

Disney Teases New and Returning Magic Kingdom Treats

Disney’s teaser image offers guests an early look at several treats expected to be part of the Big Top Souvenirs experience.

Among the items shown are:

  • Mickey Churro Caramel Apple
  • Dumbo Caramel Apple
  • Dumbo Sandwich Cookie
  • Marshmallow Pops
  • Cupcakes
  • Circus Chips

The lineup fits the playful atmosphere of Storybook Circus. Big Top Souvenirs has built much of its food appeal around colorful desserts and grab-and-go snacks.

The Mickey Churro Caramel Apple brings together two familiar Disney snack ideas, while the Dumbo-themed options connect directly to the attraction just outside.

Marshmallow pops and cupcakes offer smaller options for guests who don’t want larger caramel apples. Circus Chips round out the teased selection and continue the location’s carnival-inspired approach.

Disney’s wording also leaves room for additional surprises once the location opens. With the company promising “sweet surprises and tasty treats,” the teaser may only represent part of what guests will find inside.

More Magic Kingdom Projects

The reopening comes while construction remains a major part of the Magic Kingdom experience, with several projects underway across the park. Guests visiting right now will find a park in transition as Disney updates longtime attractions while preparing entirely new areas for the future.

In Tomorrowland, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress remains closed for a major update. Disney has confirmed that the attraction will receive new scenes, updated technology, and a new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic. It is expected to reopen in 2027, bringing noticeable changes to one of Magic Kingdom’s longest-running experiences.

Elsewhere, Disney permanently closed the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Bell Riverboat in 2025 to clear the way for Piston Peak National Park. That massive project will reshape a significant portion of the park. Work is also progressing on the future Villains-themed land beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

With so much happening at once, Magic Kingdom could look considerably different over the next several years. That makes the return of Big Top Souvenirs one piece of a much larger period of change at Magic Kingdom.

Another Magic Kingdom Experience Returns

Big Top Souvenirs may not be a ride or major entertainment offering. Still, its return restores another piece of Magic Kingdom after almost six months of closure.

For guests spending time in Storybook Circus, the shop once again provides a nearby place to browse merchandise and pick up a Disney-themed dessert. Its return also gives the area another indoor stop where families can take a break while exploring this corner of Fantasyland.

Big Top Souvenirs closed on February 20 and will reopen on August 21, ending one of the longer recent shutdowns among Magic Kingdom retail locations.

Guests will finally get their first look at the refreshed experience when the doors reopen, including the “sweet surprises and tasty treats” Disney has promised.

After nearly half a year of waiting, the circus tent is about to welcome guests back.
