Disney World Makes Further ‘Princess and the Frog’ Changes at Magic Kingdom

Disney World has expanded the Princess and the Frog franchise throughout the Magic Kingdom.

Black History Month at the Disney Parks is being celebrated with a rich, soulful slate of experiences honoring Black culture, creativity, and heritage through music, art, food, and entertainment in both California and Florida.

At Walt Disney World Resort, the Celebrate Soulfully festivities kicked off with Toya Johnson-Rushing serving as the honorary Grand Marshal of a special Magic Kingdom parade that ushered in the month with lively music and familiar Disney characters. EPCOT continued showcasing Black artistic expression through the International Festival of the Arts, featuring appearances by several prominent Black visual artists and a robust lineup of Disney On Broadway performances that highlight exceptional Black talent.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the spirit of celebration comes alive with Caribbean-inspired music and dance from Viva Gaia and the powerful rhythms of the Tam Tam Drummers of Harambe. Guests can also enjoy limited-time treats at Disney Springs, like a soulful New York cheesecake pop and a Wakandan mousse, alongside vibrant artwork by Black creators showcased throughout the shopping district.

Together, these offerings create a heartfelt and memorable way for families to connect with cultural expression and storytelling during Black History Month.

Magic Kingdom Attraction Gets Princess and the Frog Update

The Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade at Magic Kingdom has received an update for February that’s adding some extra charm to its daily performances, bringing fan-favourite royalty right into the procession. The cavalcade, a short but beloved parade-style showcase that travels from Frontierland down Main Street, U.S.A. each morning, already features nearly 30 Disney and Pixar characters, including Pocahontas, Mulan, and Bruno Madrigal.

This month, Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen are joining that lineup and are scheduled to remain part of the experience through the end of February as part of the Celebrate Soulfully seasonal celebrations. The cavalcade performs twice daily, offering guests multiple opportunities to catch the colourful procession as it winds through the park, with appearances and character combinations that have shifted over the years as additional friends have been added to the march.

Tiana and Naveen’s inclusion marks a special nod to fans of The Princess and the Frog, giving their vibrant personalities a moment in the spotlight alongside the cavalcade’s ensemble of adventurous pals. The addition doesn’t fundamentally change the event’s format, but it spotlights beloved characters in a slightly fresh way for guests enjoying Magic Kingdom during this time of year.

For those not visiting in February to catch Princess Tiana and Naveen in the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade, there is a permanent Princess and the Frog fixture at the Magic Kingdom Park. Opening in 2024, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure replaced Splash Mountain in a widely discussed, oft-controversial transformation that took place over the previous few years.

While Tiana’s Bayou Adventure does have its critics, many guests enjoy the thrill ride–even though there have been several technical issues with the animatronics since its opening. The same ride can also be found on the West Coast in Disneyland Resort’s Disneyland Park.
