Transportation is a key factor during a Disney vacation, with the resorts featuring several ways to reach the theme parks and hotels. This is best reflected at Walt Disney World in Florida, which offers guests multiple modes of transportation due to its sheer size.
Guests can board buses, trains, and boats to and from Walt Disney World’s main theme parks and hotels, as well as the resort’s water parks and shopping and dining area, Disney Springs.
Disney’s most cherished method of transportation has to be the Monorail. This futuristic single-rail train is absolutely iconic and has been a part of the Disney theme parks for years, first opening at the Disneyland Resort in 1959.
The Monorail system was later brought to Walt Disney World in 1971, and the rest is history. Now, guests can board the Monorail worldwide, with a location opening alongside the Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan.
However, things came to an abrupt stop for guests who were riding Tokyo’s Monorail earlier this week.

It’s unclear where exactly the Monorail was stopped or for how long. What caused it to stop in the first place is also unspecified.
Emergency stops are nothing new for Disney’s Monorail, with guests recently getting stuck at Walt Disney World.
Safety is a top priority across all Disney theme parks and resorts, and guests are treated with extreme care during moments like this. Similar incidents occur on the Walt Disney World Skyliner, a gondola system that takes guests to and from EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and select hotels.
When the system first debuted in 2019, the Skyliner experienced a massive outage that left guests dangling for hours. Everyone was eventually evacuated safely, and a similar incident has not occurred since.

The Tokyo Disney Resort Line provides transportation between the JR Maihama Station, which is the closest station to Tokyo Disney Resort, and several other locations within the Resort.
Tokyo Disney is actually ending one of its Monorail cars later this year, announcing it will offer special, limited-time experiences aboard the futuristic train in the weeks leading up to its removal.
The Tokyo Disney Resort is owned and operated by the Oriental Land Company. Debuting in 1983, Tokyo Disneyland was the first international Disney theme park to open and has remained so ever since.
