There have been so many crazy things going on all over the world. COVID-19 is being treated differently in other countries, and here in the United States, although we still have COVID cases, the parks are running pretty normally.
There’s still a required park pass reservation to go to any of the four theme parks at Walt Disney World in Florida and the two parks at Disneyland in California. Recently the indoors mask requirement has been lifted but is still required on any enclosed forms of transportation.

At Hong Kong Disneyland, it is an entirely different story. They have been closed for a while due to COVID-19 and originally were supposed to reopen today, February 23.

We found out that instead of reopening, they will be extending their closure two more months until April 20, 2022. This is what HKDL Fantasy shared on Twitter: “The Hong Kong Government has extended social-distancing rules again, Hong Kong Disneyland will be forced to close for two more months until 20 April 2022.”

This is not Disney’s choice, and the government has put this rule into effect. The closure began on January 7, 2022, and was only supposed to last two weeks. Will Hong Kong Disneyland actually open on April 20? Only time will tell. It will depend on what COVID numbers look like, and we hope they can get their Disney magic back soon.
Here at Walt Disney World, we see packed crowds. Over Presidents Day weekend, parks hit capacity, and wait times were extremely long. You need to decide for yourself if right now is the right time to visit Walt Disney World.
COVID numbers have been going down, but if you are high risk, you still may want to avoid the parks at this time.
