Disney has revealed new costumes for several of its princess characters at Disneyland Paris, ahead of the opening of a new dining experience later this month.

The update is tied to the upcoming transformation of Walt Disney Studios Park into Disney Adventure World. The change takes effect March 29, 2026, when the park debuts new areas, including World of Frozen and the Adventure Bay lake.

Character encounters remain a central part of Disney parks around the world.

Guests visiting parks such as Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World, and Tokyo Disney Resort can regularly meet characters like Cinderella, Belle, and Rapunzel in designated meet-and-greet locations.

These appearances typically feature the princesses in their most recognizable outfits.

Cinderella is commonly seen in her blue gown, while Belle often appears in the gold dress associated with the ballroom scene in Beauty and the Beast.

That consistency allows visitors to encounter familiar versions of the characters regardless of which Disney resort they visit.

A new dining experience at Disneyland Paris will introduce a different approach.

The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge will open as part of Disney Adventure World’s expansion and will feature appearances from several Disney princess characters.

The restaurant overlooks Adventure Bay, a new central lake that will serve as the setting for a future nighttime show.

Princesses expected to appear include Belle, Aurora, Ariel, Jasmine, Merida, and Mulan.

However, Disney has confirmed that the characters will appear in alternate outfits rather than the traditional gowns typically used in princess dining experiences.

Disney Reveals Alternate Princess Costumes for New Dining Experience

Disney recently shared a first look at the costumes that will be used at The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge.

Instead of the formal ball gowns most commonly associated with the princesses, the characters will wear outfits inspired by other moments from their films.

👑 First look at the new and exclusive outfits for the Disney Princesses at the Regal View Restaurant in Disney Adventure World:

Early images show designs that resemble the characters’ everyday or adventure clothing rather than royal attire.

The costumes will be exclusive to the restaurant.

The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge is designed as an upscale character dining location within Disney Adventure World.

Guests will be able to dine while meeting princess characters in a setting overlooking Adventure Bay.

Disney describes the experience in promotional materials as a royal encounter.

Dine with Disney Princesses in their favourite summer residence and enjoy a royal Disney experience like nothing before,” says Disney. “Share tales of adventures with the likes of Belle, Aurora and Ariel, in an elegant setting with stunning views of the lake.”

The venue will also have another distinction for the resort.

It will serve as the first in-park bar at Disneyland Paris, allowing visitors to stop in for a drink without needing to reserve a table for a full meal.

Restaurants at the resort have previously served alcohol, though availability has typically been limited to dining locations.

Fan Reaction Mixed Following Costume Reveal

The reveal of the new costumes has prompted mixed reactions among Disney fans online.

Some commenters said the alternate outfits offer variety compared with the traditional princess gowns used elsewhere in the parks.

One commenter wrote that the change fits the storytelling approach of Disney Adventure World, saying that “their villager outfits are more iconic than their ballgowns (especially Belle’s blue dress).”

Another fan noted that guests can still see the characters in their classic gowns in other areas of Disney parks.

They appear in their dresses in the main park all the time,” the commenter said. “I think it’s good they are in different outfits to make their appearance slightly more special in the new area.”

Practicality also came up in the discussion.

Walking between tables in those massive ballgowns must be so annoying,” one fan wrote. “These outfits are so much more convenient.”

Some responses focused on specific characters.

My favourite princess is Mulan and I love that they have her in her end of movie outfit where she saves China,” the fan wrote, adding that it offers a change from the pink or green outfits often used in merchandise.

Another commenter praised the designs more generally.

The costumes are gorgeous. No one [needs] the same dress at every princess dining,” they wrote.

Other fans questioned whether the outfits match the theme of the restaurant.

Then they should adjust their menu and prices,” one commenter wrote. “Because there is nothing informal about both.”

The commenter added that the costumes might suit a more casual environment.

Love the outfits, better suited for roaming in the parks or Auberge, which translates to an Inn. Not a restaurant named the REGAL view,” they wrote.

Some guests said they expected the princesses to appear in their traditional gowns.

I had booked the Regal View but really wanted to see the princesses in their ball gowns rather than day time dress,” one guest wrote.

Another added: “I’ve booked this for October bit disappointed as I like the ball gowns and tiaras.”

Criticism also extended to the costumes themselves in some cases.

Why the official Disney park cast have clothes that looks worse than cosplayers?” one commenter asked. “The wigs looks so fake and the fabrics so cheap.”

The restaurant will open alongside the launch of Disney Adventure World later this month.

The wider expansion includes the debut of World of Frozen, a new Adventure Way promenade, and the Adventure Bay lake area that will host a new nighttime spectacular, Cascade of Lights.
