After more than three decades, an original Disneyland Paris Resort dining destination has served its final meals…at least for now. Annette’s diner—which welcomed its first guests on the European Disney park’s opening day, April 12, 1992—permanently closed on January 5, 2026, launching a massive renovation project that will keep the restaurant dark for a full year.
Opening Day Disney Restaurant Goes Dark
Annette’s holds special significance as one of the remaining original establishments at Disneyland Paris Resort still operating in its initial form. The 1950s-style American diner opened 33 years ago in the Disney Village shopping, dining, and entertainment district, serving generations of European Disney Park guests classic American comfort food in a nostalgic mid-century setting.
Disney Village Loses Two Landmarks
Annette’s shutdown came just 48 hours after another iconic Disney Village location served its final customers. The original Disney Store closed January 3, eliminating one of the last surviving examples worldwide of 1990s-style nostalgic Disney retail design. That space is being transformed into Disney Wonders, a contemporary franchise-based shop targeting a late summer 2026 opening.
Construction barriers appeared around the former Disney Store on January 8, according to the X (formerly known as Twitter) account @DLPReport. Annette’s sat empty at that point but remained barrier-free, creating temporary confusion about whether the restaurant renovation had actually begun.
“🔧 Walls are up around the Disney Store at Disney Village, being transformed into Disney Wonders by the end of Summer. Nothing yet at Annette’s,” @DLPReport wrote.

Six days later, construction walls finally materialized around Annette’s. @DLPReport documented the installation on January 14.
“🔧 At Disney Village, walls are now up around Annette’s, closed for a year-long refurbishment,” the account posted alongside photographs showing the restaurant completely blocked from European Disney Park guests.

The barriers will dominate that section of Disney Village throughout 2026 and potentially into 2027, depending on the pace of renovation work.
Complete Restaurant Transformation Planned
The 12-month closure enables comprehensive changes to both guest and operational areas. Construction crews are dramatically expanding the kitchen facilities—a project that would be impossible to execute while the restaurant remains operational—and completely gutting the dining room. The renovation will slightly increase maximum guest capacity when Annette’s eventually reopens.
Disneyland Paris Resort is committed to replacing all flooring and furniture throughout the restaurant. However, the company emphasized its intention to preserve Annette’s retro character rather than modernizing it into a generic contemporary dining space. The goal is to enhance the nostalgic 1950s diner atmosphere that’s defined Annette’s identity for 33 years.
The bar area is being completely redesigned with chrome accents and a new layout paying homage to authentic 1950s diners. Restaurant booths will be reupholstered to resemble car seats from the mid-century era, featuring classic pastel color schemes—pink, baby blue, and vanilla yellow—that transport diners back to the golden age of American roadside dining.
Disneyland Paris Resort confirmed the lengthy closure but hasn’t specified when Annette’s will resume serving guests. The restaurant could theoretically reopen as early as January 2027—exactly one year after closing—or remain shuttered through spring or summer 2027 if construction encounters delays or complications.
