A routine ride on the Disney Skyliner turned into a tense moment for one guest after the gondola system unexpectedly stopped, leaving her suspended 60 feet in the air—completely alone. The eerie experience played out at night, intensifying her sense of isolation as she waited for the Walt Disney World transportation system to resume operations.

Since opening in 2019, the Disney Skyliner has offered a scenic and efficient transportation option between several Disney Resort hotels, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But for some, the fear of heights and unexpected stops can quickly turn a peaceful ride into a nerve-wracking ordeal.

Last week, TikTok user @mcwiththemagic shared a firsthand account of being left alone in a gondola after the Disney Skyliner suddenly came to a halt. “Not me about to have a panic attack while stuck on the Skyliner,” she captioned her video.

In the footage, she describes her growing anxiety as the minutes tick by. “No one tells you how eerie the Skyliner is until you’re stuck alone sitting at the top at night. I am a Skyliner girly, but…”

Just as she trails off, an announcement over the intercom breaks the silence: “Thank you for your patience. We are now resuming your journey. We will take flight momentarily.”

“Woo! Thank god,” the relieved guest exclaims.

How Often Does the Disney Skyliner Stop?

Disney Skyliner pauses and brief delays are not uncommon, as the system occasionally stops to accommodate wheelchair and accessibility boarding. However, guests can feel trapped when a complete stop lasts longer than expected, especially when they’re alone in a gondola 60 feet above Walt Disney World Resort.

Each Disney Skyliner cabin is equipped with an emergency kit, including water, cooling packs, and supplies in case of an extended delay. Disney has backup procedures in place to manually restart the system or evacuate guests if necessary, though complete evacuations are rare.

Disney Parks Fans React to the Video

The TikTok quickly sparked a debate among Disney Parks fans. Some viewers related to the guest’s anxiety, imagining how they would react in the same situation.

“I would have to lay down in the fetal position and take a nap so I forget I’m dangling in the sky,” @momsalwaystired commented.

“The gasp I gasped,” @aymee030813 replied. “I love Disney but that Skyliner and my anxiety do NOT mix.”

Others defended the Skyliner as a safe and reliable form of Walt Disney World transportation.

“Skyliner is probably one of the safest modes of transportation,” @hypepinki wrote. “Gondola lifts like that have existed since 1900s all thru Europe. The cable line can be manually cranked so you’re never actually stuck.”
