Despite recently turning 30 years old, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is still perhaps Disney’s most impressive and jaw-dropping attraction to date. Filled with incredible theming, immersive storytelling, and an absolutely exhilarating on-ride experience, Tower of Terror remains one of Disney’s most fun theme park attractions and, as such, often sees some intense wait times.
Tower of Terror is found near the back of Disney’s Hollywood Studios close to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, another one of Disney’s most popular thrill rides.
The haunted drop tower stands tall above the rest of the park, practically teasing guests as they explore the rest of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The screams of guests on the ride can be heard throughout the park, demanding guests pay attention to the terrifying attraction.
However, even though it’s one of the most popular rides at Walt Disney World, there’s a specific detail that’s easy to miss and may surprise even the most hardcore fans.

While the ride itself is quite fun, the Tower of Terror experience begins long before guests buckle their seat belts. As guests enter the Tower of Terror queue, they are instantly transported into a new world filled with stunning detail and an undeniably creepy atmosphere.
As guest make their way through the line, the remains of the once-iconic Hollywood Tower Hotel can be seen, passing by decrepit and dirty windows, benches, and abandoned water features.
Guests are completely and totally immersed in the story of the ride, which centers around a group of guests who were struck by lightning while riding an elevator. These ghostly guests now haunt the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
Once guests enter the lobby, they can see the main elevator that crashed that fateful night. The lobby is filled to the brim with spooky details, but one piece of theming often goes unnoticed.
On the wall in front of guests is a directory that explains where certain parts of the hotel are located. The sign features words in small letters, but some of these letters have broken off the board over time.
If guests look closer at the case where the sign is located, they will see an eerie hidden message warning them not to ride the attraction.

Twitter/X user DisneyWorldJp shared a video showing off the hidden message. On the bottom of the case, fallen letters spell out “Take the stairs.”
This “friendly” word of warning acts as the last piece of advice guests are given before they make their way into the boiler room, which is where they will board their elevators.
Small details like this are what the Disney theme parks are known for, though few are quite as chilling as this warning. Tower of Terror takes guests on an exhilarating journey down, up, and back down repeatedly, actually pulling them down faster than the speed of gravity.
The attraction has become an absolute classic among Disney theme parks, and multiple versions can be found worldwide.
