Date Now Set for the Closure of Disney’s Iconic Winnie the Pooh Attraction

Disney’s iconic Winnie the Pooh attraction is set to close at one park from next month.

Disney has created several different Winnie the Pooh attractions around the world rather than cloning a single ride. Most parks feature a dark ride based on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977), while others offer unique experiences tied to their own park’s layout and storytelling.

The original The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh opened at Magic Kingdom in 1999, replacing Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. Versions later debuted at Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland, each with different ride systems, scenes, or visual effects.

Tokyo’s version – often considered the superior Winnie the Pooh ride – stands apart by using a trackless ride system that lets honey pots move independently through the Hundred Acre Wood. Shanghai instead offers The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh inside its Storybook Castle area, as well as Hunny Pot Spin, a spinning Teacups-style ride. Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s version includes exclusive scenes and updated animation not found elsewhere.

Closure Date Set For The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Hong Kong Disneyland’s version of the attraction is set to close next month.

From July 12, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh will shutter for refurbishment. As per the Hong Kong Disneyland website, the attraction is set to reopen on July 19.

Other ongoing closures at the theme park – which is the most visited theme park in Hong Kong – include Tarzan’s Treehouse and Rafts to Tarzan’s Treehouse. Their prolonged closures have led some guests to believe that they will never reopen.

Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad – Main Street Station is also currently closed to all guests. This will continue through at least late September.

Meanwhile, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! is closed in the Stark Expo area of Tomorrowland. It is currently slated to reopen to guests on July 4.

While Disney hasn’t confirmed the scope of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh‘s refurbishment, its relatively short closure suggests the work is likely limited rather than a major overhaul.

During the ride’s closure, guests can still get their Winnie the Pooh fix by meeting the Winnie the Pooh family in Fantasy Gardens, which is also located in Fantasyland. It’s unclear whether the ride’s gift shop will also be accessible during its closure.

Guests should also note that work is ongoing at Hong Kong Disneyland right now. Disney’s smallest theme park resort is in the process of preparing a brand-new Pixar experience, slated to open in 2027 between Toy Story Land and World of Frozen. Over in Stark Expo, the park is also working on a new ride inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe – specifically, Spider-Man.

In the meantime, guests can also enjoy this summer’s Pixar Summer Fest. This includes the Pixar Pals Spectacular, a short show that runs before the usual nighttime spectacular (and, in our opinion, one of Disney’s best), Momentous, as well as the Pixar Water Play Street Party! and the Friendtastic! Parade.
