Disney World guests will soon have even more reasons to celebrate as new protocols have been announced for those flying into Orlando International Airport.
Disney World Adds New Arrival Protocol for Guests
Walt Disney World is expanding its Airport Luggage Transfer program again, with JetBlue becoming the latest airline added to the growing service at select Disney Resort hotels. The change gives more families flying through Orlando International Airport (MCO) the ability to separate themselves from their checked bags before or after a Disney vacation.
For longtime visitors, the concept is immediately familiar. Disney is gradually restoring one of the conveniences once associated with Disney’s Magical Express—but there is an important distinction. Airport Luggage Transfer handles the bags. It does not provide guests with transportation between MCO and Walt Disney World.
Disney World Airport Luggage Transfer Adds JetBlue
JetBlue joins American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and United Airlines in the Airport Luggage Transfer pilot. Disney’s official Airport Luggage Transfer page identifies the program as a BagCheck-provided service for eligible guests staying at participating Disney Resorts Collection hotels.
The expansion follows several stages of growth. The program began on a much smaller scale with Southwest and Disney’s Value Resorts before American and United joined in 2026. More recently, Inside the Magic reported that Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort became the first Moderate Resort added to the luggage-transfer program.
That brings the participating hotel lineup to Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, All-Star Music Resort, All-Star Sports Resort, Art of Animation Resort, Pop Century Resort, and Caribbean Beach Resort. Disney continues to describe Airport Luggage Transfer as a pilot program rather than a permanent resort-wide amenity.
Part of the Magical Express Experience Has Returned
It is difficult to look at the service without remembering Disney’s Magical Express.
The former Disney service provided complimentary motorcoach transportation between Orlando International Airport and Disney Resort hotels. It also became closely associated with the ability to travel without personally retrieving checked luggage, creating a relatively seamless transition from airplane to vacation.
Disney announced in 2021 that Magical Express would no longer be offered for arrivals beginning January 1, 2022. Inside the Magic covered Disney’s original Magical Express cancellation announcement and later examined how Mears Connect replaced part of the transportation experience after the Disney-branded service disappeared.
Disney’s archived Magical Express guidelines also document the old luggage-delivery component, including resort delivery of eligible checked baggage.
Airport Luggage Transfer therefore restores a familiar piece of that experience. It does not restore the complete package.
Your Bags Get a Ride—You Don’t
That distinction matters for families planning their vacation budget and arrival day.
Under the current program, eligible guests flying into Orlando can register in advance, check their luggage with their airline as usual, and skip baggage claim after landing. Disney says luggage may take up to four hours after flight arrival to reach the participating resort.
For the return trip, guests can drop eligible checked luggage with Luggage Assistance at their participating resort between 24 hours and four hours before departure. They can then travel to MCO without taking the bags to the airline check-in counter themselves. Airline baggage charges still apply when applicable.
What guests cannot do is board a complimentary Disney motorcoach to complete that journey.
Since Magical Express ended, travelers have needed to arrange airport transportation separately through options such as rideshare, rental vehicles, private transportation, or paid shuttle services. Inside the Magic has previously broken down the post-Magical Express transportation options available to Disney guests, including Mears Connect.
That makes the new system noticeably different from the former Disney experience: BagCheck can take responsibility for eligible luggage, but guests remain responsible for getting themselves to or from Walt Disney World.
The Airport Perk Keeps Getting Bigger
The JetBlue addition is nevertheless another meaningful expansion for a program that started with substantially narrower eligibility.
In May, Inside the Magic reported the addition of American Airlines and United Airlines alongside Southwest. Then came Caribbean Beach in August, extending the service beyond Disney’s Value Resort category for the first time. JetBlue now broadens the airline side of the equation again.
Disney’s published rules say the program applies only to domestic flights. Guests must also be staying at a participating Disney Resorts Collection hotel and flying with a participating carrier.
For arrivals, registration can be completed from 30 days until 24 hours before the flight. Guests need both their Disney Resort confirmation number and flight confirmation number, and Disney advises travelers to keep medications, electronics, important documents, and other specified essentials in carry-on luggage rather than transferred bags.
What Disney Has—and Hasn’t—Brought Back
The steady expansion makes Airport Luggage Transfer increasingly useful, particularly for families who remember how little luggage handling was required during the Magical Express era. Inside the Magic has tracked the luggage program’s expansion since its earlier Value Resort phase.
But there is currently no announced return of Disney’s Magical Express itself. There is also no official announcement establishing that the luggage pilot will eventually expand to every Disney Resort hotel or every major airline serving Orlando.
For now, the distinction is straightforward: Disney World is rebuilding part of the old airport-to-resort convenience, one airline and hotel at a time, while the complimentary ride that once connected the airport and Disney property remains absent.
With JetBlue joining the program and Caribbean Beach recently extending it into the Moderate category, the next question is whether Disney and BagCheck continue adding airlines and resorts—or whether this is roughly where the pilot settles. Disney’s own program language says additional airlines could be added, making the Airport Luggage Transfer page worth checking before future Walt Disney World trips.
