Soon, 2025 will be left behind as guests ring in the New Year at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Christmas week is officially here at the Walt Disney World Resort, and guests are packing out the theme parks. The Lightning Lane pass selection has already sold out on multiple consecutive days, signalling big crowds even with so many attractions across Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios out of action.

2025 has been a transformational year for the flagship Disney theme park resort, and 2026 will see even bigger developments take place at the Orlando destination. From Piston Peak National Park in Frontierland to the arrival of Monstropolis in Hollywood Studios and the Family Madrigal’s arrival at Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand U.S.A. replacement, the Tropical Americas, Disney World guests will experience an entirely different resort by 2030.

Before 2026 really gets going, though, guests must first bid farewell to 2025. At Disney World, there are multiple experiences guests can enjoy to welcome the New Year.

“Both Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT are known for their incredible New Year’s Eve celebrations, complete with fireworks that light up the sky. At Magic Kingdom, the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks are a beloved tradition, usually presented on both December 30 and 31, so you might even have two chances to experience them!” planDisney shared earlier this year. “The show typically takes place around midnight, and the park can reach capacity early in the day, so I definitely recommend arriving bright and early to soak in the magic.”

It’s not only the Magic Kingdom that will be in on the New Year’s celebration.

“At EPCOT, the celebration is equally magical. The Cheers to the New Year: A Sparkling Celebration fireworks bring an amazing midnight countdown and a grand finale over World Showcase Lagoon,” planDisney added. “DJs and dance parties often happen throughout the different pavilions for an around-the-world celebration!”

Not only can guests see big fireworks displays like these at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, but the latter also has multiple DJ stages across the World Showcase area of the park, and work is already underway at one beloved pavilion.

As shared by Kenny the Pirate, construction on the New Year’s Eve stage at the Italy pavilion has already commenced. While New Year’s Eve is still over a week away, Disney is seemingly getting a head start on the next celebration despite Christmas having not arrived yet.

“Erected in the Italy pavilion, this lighting surrounds where the La Befana storyteller shares the Epiphany tradition,” Kenny the Pirate shared. The construction is very noticeable for those wanting to visit and experience the Italy pavilion ahead of New Year’s Eve.

About Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
