Disney World Changes How Guests Access Meet and Greet Experiences at Park

One of the most exciting parts of a Walt Disney World vacation is meeting characters–and Disney just changed how guests can access their favorites.

While attractions come and go, shut down and change, one thing that remains consistent at the theme parks is the many character meet and greets Disney offers. At the Walt Disney World Resort, guests can encounter characters in many different ways. From seeing them in parades and shows to waiting in lines at Princess Fairytale Hall and giving them hugs and high fives while eating at a table service restaurant, characters appear in all of Disney World’s parks.

Disney is now trialing how guests can locate some of the character meet-and-greet experiences, seemingly those in outdoor, less easy-to-find locations. According to reports, cast members are now using handheld signs featuring the character so guests can identify where the line is and where it ends for the meet-and-greet.

The photos captured by WDWNT show that the new signs are being used at Disney’s Animal Kingdom for the Donald Duck and Pocohontas meet-and-greets. According to the report, cast members are unsure if this new method will be rolling out to the rest of the meet-and-greets across Walt Disney World Resort‘s other theme parks, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Even being only a small change, things like this really do impact overall guest satisfaction at the flagship resort. Due to its size and scale, sometimes the less identifiable experiences can be confusing to locate or missed altogether. It will be interesting to see if Disney Experiences decides to roll this out resort-wide at the parks.

While not necessarily a meet-and-greet, the latest interaction in the Disney portfolio is the Walt Disney animatronic at Disneyland Resort. In celebration of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, the Mouse House debuted Walt Disney–A Magical Life at the Main Street Opera House, which showcases a moving and talking Walt Disney that guests can experience.
