The holiday season is one of the busiest times at Walt Disney World, but guests planning a November or December vacation could encounter unexpected closures.
With Christmas approaching, Disney is preparing to welcome thousands of families looking to enjoy seasonal entertainment, festive decorations, and popular attractions.
However, not everything will be available when visitors arrive.
Several experiences across Disney World’s theme parks and water parks will remain unavailable during the holidays. Some are undergoing refurbishments, while others face longer closures tied to construction or operational changes.
Here are seven closures guests should know about before visiting Disney World between November 1 and December 31, 2026.
1. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Closing for Nearly Seven Weeks
Magic Kingdom guests hoping to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will need to pay close attention to their vacation dates.
The popular Frontierland attraction will temporarily close beginning November 2, with its refurbishment scheduled to continue through December 17.
Disney expects the ride to reopen December 18, just in time for the final stretch of the Christmas season.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure takes guests on a musical journey through the Louisiana bayou, featuring characters from The Princess and the Frog (2009).
The attraction opened in June 2024 after replacing Splash Mountain.
While the closure will disappoint some holiday visitors, those arriving closer to Christmas should have another opportunity to experience the ride.

2. Carousel of Progress Won’t Return Until 2027
Another longtime Magic Kingdom favorite will miss the entire holiday season.
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress closed July 6, 2026, as Disney began work on a major reimagining of the Tomorrowland attraction.
The rotating theater show follows an American family through different periods of technological progress, showing how everyday life has changed over the decades.
Disney expects the updated experience to reopen in late spring 2027.
That means guests visiting during Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Eve won’t be able to experience the attraction.
Although the closure is temporary, the updated show is expected to introduce noticeable changes when it finally welcomes guests again.
3. Frontierland Railroad Station Remains Shut Down
Guests hoping to board the Walt Disney World Railroad from Frontierland will also be disappointed.
The Frontierland Railroad Station has been unavailable for an extended period as Disney prepares the surrounding area for major expansion projects.
Construction connected to the park’s future development has affected the station and nearby sections of Frontierland.
For now, Disney fans should expect the station to be unavailable during the 2026 holiday season.
Unlike some temporary refurbishments, this closure doesn’t have a confirmed reopening date.
With construction expected to continue for quite some time, guests should prepare for the possibility that the station will remain unavailable well beyond December.
Other railroad operations may still be available, depending on Disney’s operating schedule.

4. EPCOT’s Land Cart Unavailable Through November
Over at EPCOT, another smaller location is expected to remain closed during part of the holiday season.
The Land Cart, located near The Land pavilion, is scheduled to be unavailable through November 25.
While this isn’t a major attraction closure, guests who typically stop at the location for refreshments or snacks may need to find another option.
The closure affects visitors arriving during the first several weeks of November, including those planning trips ahead of Thanksgiving.
Fortunately, EPCOT offers numerous other dining and snack locations throughout the park.
5. Vacation Fun Closes at Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Hollywood Studios will also have one less entertainment option available during the holidays.
Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie will close October 28. It’s expected to remain closed through late December, with its return potentially extending into early January 2027.
The animated presentation features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and their friends enjoying various vacation adventures.
Located inside the Mickey Shorts Theater, the experience offers families a chance to enjoy a short indoor show between attractions.
With the theater unavailable, guests will need to explore other entertainment options throughout Hollywood Studios.
Disney has not confirmed an exact reopening date.

6. Slush Gusher Remains Closed at Blizzard Beach
Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is another location where guests could encounter an unavailable attraction.
Slush Gusher, one of the park’s popular water slides, has been closed without an announced reopening date.
The high-speed slide sends riders down a series of hills, creating an experience that briefly lifts guests from the slide’s surface.
Although Blizzard Beach continues welcoming visitors, Slush Gusher is expected to remain unavailable during the holiday season unless Disney announces otherwise.
Guests can still enjoy other water slides, family attractions, and swimming areas throughout the park.
7. Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Closed Until Spring 2027
The largest closure on this list involves an entire Disney World water park.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon closed September 9, 2026, for its seasonal refurbishment and isn’t expected to reopen until spring 2027.
The tropical-themed water park features attractions such as Miss Adventure Falls, Crush ‘n’ Gusher, and its massive wave pool.
Visitors planning a holiday water park day will need to visit Blizzard Beach instead.

What These Closures Mean for Holiday Visitors
Despite these seven closures, Disney World will still offer plenty of experiences throughout November and December.
Magic Kingdom will host Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, while EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays begins November 27.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom will also offer seasonal entertainment and festive decorations.
Guests should check Disney World’s official operating calendar before their vacation, as refurbishment schedules and reopening dates can change.
With a little planning, families can still enjoy the holiday celebrations even if a few familiar experiences remain unavailable.
