While each of Disney World’s four theme parks offers incredible rides and attractions, it’s hard to compete with Magic Kingdom. As the first Disney theme park to open on the East Coast, Magic Kingdom is always going to have an edge over EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.

Part of what makes Magic Kingdom so great is that the park features both classic dark rides and modern-day marvels. Some of the park’s most popular rides include icons like Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Haunted Mansion, as well as intense thrill rides like TRON Lightcycle / Run.

However, many would argue the true face of Magic Kingdom is Dumbo the Flying Elephant. This classic spinner ride has delighted and entertained for decades, becoming just as iconic as Space Mountain, “it’s a small world,” and Cinderella Castle.

Unfortunately, guests won’t be able to enjoy the attraction in its entirety for quite some time.

Walt Disney World has confirmed the playground at Dumbo the Flying Elephant will remain closed indefinitley.

The indoor children’s playground closed for refurbishment back in February. Disney initially stated the experience would return by Spring. However, Disney has posted an updated timeline for the attraction, confirming it will reopen sometime later this year.

The indoor children’s playground in the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue is closed for refurbishment and is expected to reopen later this year. The attraction will remain open and available during this time.

The actual Dumbo the Flying Elephant attraction remains open for guests to enjoy.

Despite its age, Dumbo the Flying Elephant is undoubtedly still one of Disney’s most iconic theme park rides. While simple, this attraction has remained one of the most consistently popular rides at the Magic Kingdom.

The ride proved so popular, in fact, that in 2012, Disney World created a copy of the original ride. This essentially doubled its capacity, meaning more guests than ever would get the chance to take to the skies with Dumbo.

Disney World is home to several variants of this spinner ride. Astro Orbiter is found in Tomorrowland, allowing guests to soar high above the rest of the park. The other spinner ride, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, can be found in Adventureland.

About Luke Dammann

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"
