Anyone who’s been to Disney’s theme parks recently can tell you that updates, overhauls, and expansions are happening practically everywhere. From The Haunted Mansion to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, all kinds of tweaks are being made to the parks, some of which are very exciting.

Magic Kingdom arguably has the most binging on currently, with the park’s Frontierland undergoing a significant transformation as Disney gets ready to introduce Piston Peak. This new area draws inspiration from Pixar’s Cars series, as well as real-life national parks, and will feature a brand-new thrill ride once all is said and done.

Updates are also happening at EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but recently, Disney made a surprising change inside its Animal Kingdom theme park.

Following their return earlier this year, the water-spraying creatures are finally working again at Pandora – The World of Avatar. These aquatic aliens were once interactive, spraying water as guests waved their arms in front of them.

Over time, this feature either broke or was turned off. The pair of aliens was removed from their spot over a year ago, but they have returned and are now working again.

They kind of work again!!!

Pandora – The World of Avatar opened in 2017, forever changing not just Disney’s Animal Kingdom but Walt Disney World Resort as a whole. In many ways, Pandora was Disney’s answer to Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter, an expansion that marked the dawn of a new era in immersive theme park experiences.

Sure, places like Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland or Animal Kingdom’s Asia were already highly detailed and immersive places for guests to explore, but Disney knew Pandora needed to raise the bar.

In the years since its grand opening, Pandora has become one of the most popular and beloved areas inside Walt Disney World. This is largely thanks to the land’s impressive two rides, Na’vi River Journey and Avatar Flight of Passage.

The Walt Disney Company will be expanding Pandora’s footprint very soon, just not in Disney World. In 2026, construction on a new version of Pandora will begin at Disney California Adventure. This exciting project was announced a while back, with Disney confirming the world of James Cameron’s Avatar franchise would be coming to Disneyland Resort.

This expansion has been met with both excitement and controversy, with some fans arguing that giant blue people don’t quite belong at Disneyland.

Regardless, work will officially start next year, beginning with the closure of several locations inside Disney California Adventure.

About Luke Dammann

When at Disney world, Luke will probably be found eating with his favorite animatronic, Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe. When not at Disney World, Luke will probably be found defending Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe to people who claim "there are better restaurants"
