Getting into one of Walt Disney World’s newest dining locations is going to work a little differently than many guests may expect.
Disney World vacations often involve planning meals weeks before guests ever arrive in Orlando. Popular restaurants can fill up quickly, leaving families checking the My Disney Experience app repeatedly for cancellations or trying their luck once they reach the parks and resorts.

But Disney’s newest BoardWalk destination is taking a very different approach.
Hurly-Burly, the new lounge opening October 1 along Disney’s BoardWalk, will not offer advance dining reservations when it opens. Instead, Disney is turning to its Walk-Up List system for guests hoping to get inside.
That makes understanding how Disney’s Walk-Up List works particularly important, especially for guests hoping to visit Hurly-Burly during its first days of operation.
Disney World’s Walk-Up List Works Differently From a Reservation
The biggest thing guests need to understand is that joining a Walk-Up List is not the same as making a normal dining reservation.
Disney introduced the Walk-Up List feature in 2020 as another way for guests to potentially dine at restaurants without securing an advance reservation.
Instead of choosing a restaurant weeks ahead of time and selecting an available reservation, guests use the My Disney Experience app on the day they want to eat. The system can show participating restaurants and potentially allow guests to join a virtual waiting list.
Groups of seven guests or fewer can use the mobile app to join a Walk-Up List. Guests start by navigating to the dining reservation section of My Disney Experience, selecting their party size and choosing the current date.
The current date is important.
Guests cannot use the Walk-Up List to secure a place for tomorrow, next week or later in their vacation. It is designed specifically for same-day dining.
When the feature is available, guests can select the option for dining without a reservation and join the Walk-Up List.
That sounds simple, but there is an important catch.
Getting on the List Is Not Guaranteed
Seeing a restaurant participate in Disney’s Walk-Up List does not necessarily mean every guest can immediately join it.
Demand still matters.
More than 50 dining locations across Walt Disney World can potentially offer a Walk-Up List. However, the feature can become unavailable when demand gets too high.
That means guests should not treat the Walk-Up List as a guaranteed backup plan.
If you arrive at Walt Disney World assuming you can simply join a popular restaurant’s list whenever you are hungry, you could find that option unavailable.

For Hurly-Burly, that could become particularly important during its opening period.
New Walt Disney World restaurants and lounges naturally attract attention from frequent visitors who want to experience something new. Without advance reservations controlling some of that demand before guests arrive, the Walk-Up List could become an important part of visiting the new location.
Guests interested in Hurly-Burly may want to keep an eye on My Disney Experience rather than waiting until they are standing outside the lounge to figure out how the system works.
Hurly-Burly Is Going All-In on Walk-Ups
Hurly-Burly’s decision is notable because Disney is not simply offering the Walk-Up List as an alternative to traditional reservations.
For now, it is the primary system.
The new BoardWalk lounge will not offer advance dining reservations when it opens October 1. Guests hoping to experience the location will instead need to rely on the Walk-Up List, while select beverages will also be available through the Hurly-Burly walk-up window.
That creates a much more spontaneous experience than guests may be accustomed to at Walt Disney World.
Normally, someone planning a vacation several weeks away could attempt to lock in their most important meals before leaving home. Hurly-Burly does not give guests that option.
You could know months ahead of time that you want to visit, but you still cannot reserve your spot months ahead of time.
Instead, you will have to wait until the day of your visit and see what the Walk-Up List looks like.
For some guests, that could be a welcome change. It removes the pressure of trying to grab another advance reservation and gives visitors an opportunity to make a decision based on where they are and what they feel like doing that day.
For others, it adds uncertainty.
There’s Another Important Catch at Disney’s BoardWalk
Hurly-Burly’s location could make the lack of reservations even more interesting.
The lounge sits along Disney’s BoardWalk, meaning guests staying in that resort area may have an easier time casually checking for an opportunity to visit.
Someone staying at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn or another nearby EPCOT-area resort could potentially work Hurly-Burly into an evening without making it the centerpiece of an entire day.

Other visitors may have more planning involved.
One concern is parking at Disney’s BoardWalk without a dining reservation. Because Hurly-Burly will not accept advance reservations, local guests or other visitors who are not staying at a nearby Disney resort may need to consider transportation before heading over.
That is worth keeping in mind when planning a visit.
A Walk-Up List may make the dining side more spontaneous, but guests still need to think about how they will get to the BoardWalk area.
The Experience Changes as the Day Goes On
There is another reason guests may want to pay close attention to timing.
Hurly-Burly is designed to offer different experiences depending on when guests visit.
During the afternoon, Disney describes the lounge as a family-friendly location. Activities will include trivia and other games hosted for guests.
Beginning at 9 p.m., however, the atmosphere changes. Hurly-Burly transitions into a live-music venue limited to guests who are 21 and older.

The nighttime experience includes musical entertainment alongside coastal-inspired cocktails and light bites.
That means joining the Walk-Up List is not simply about finding any available time.
Families with children will naturally need to target the earlier experience, while adults interested in the nighttime atmosphere may prefer to wait until later.
The Walk-Up List could make that timing more unpredictable than a normal reservation.
For families especially, that is something worth considering before heading toward Disney’s BoardWalk. Waiting too long could mean missing the portion of the day when younger guests can experience the lounge.
Disney Can Change the Walk-Up List Without Warning
There is one final wrinkle guests should remember.
Disney can add or remove Walk-Up List availability without notice.
Disney has already made adjustments to the system at other newer locations. The Beak and Barrel at Magic Kingdom and GEO-82 at EPCOT both saw Walk-Up List changes in July 2026.
In other words, what guests see today is not necessarily what they will see several months from now.
Hurly-Burly is opening with a Walk-Up List-only approach, but Disney could adjust how the location operates later. Demand, capacity and the lounge’s day-to-day operation could all potentially affect how Disney handles access in the future.
That is another reason guests should check My Disney Experience rather than relying entirely on what happened during someone else’s visit.
A guest who successfully joined the list one afternoon may have a completely different experience than someone attempting to visit during a busier evening.
The Walk-Up List Could Become Crucial for Guests
For opening day, the message is much clearer.
There is no advance dining reservation to grab.
Guests who want to experience Hurly-Burly will need to approach the new lounge differently, check My Disney Experience on the day of their visit and watch the Walk-Up List.
It is a notable shift from the type of Disney World vacation planning many guests have become accustomed to.
Instead of knowing weeks ahead of time exactly when they will visit the new lounge, guests will have to leave some flexibility in their schedules.

That could make Hurly-Burly easier for spontaneous visitors who happen to be around Disney’s BoardWalk when space becomes available. At the same time, it could make things more difficult for families who prefer having every meal and activity mapped out before their vacation begins.
And during the opening period, demand could make that flexibility particularly important.
For anyone accustomed to planning nearly every major Disney World meal well before vacation begins, Hurly-Burly may require a change in strategy.
Knowing how Disney’s Walk-Up List works, checking the app throughout the day and remaining flexible could give guests a better chance of experiencing Walt Disney World’s newest BoardWalk destination.
