Like Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is currently undergoing a major overhaul that has seen attractions close permanently and fan-favorite experiences be replaced and moved around.

Disney is aiming for a 2027 opening of its new Tropical Americas land, which is replacing the already almost extinct DinoLand U.S.A. at the Animal Kingdom park. One of the only remaining DinoLand experiences is the signature DINOSAUR attraction, which will permanently close on February 1, 2026.

The closures in DinoLand come as Disney opts to celebrate the Tropical Americas with a new area called the Pueblo Esperanza. The location will feature attractions based on the Encanto and Indiana Jones franchises, with glimpses of what is to come already being seen from the sky.

It’s not just the fixed DinoLand experiences that have faced change at Animal Kingdom; numerous meet and greets have had to move around the park to accommodate the major construction project. For guests wanting to see and meet Goofy at Animal Kingdom, the Fab Five character has been removed from his previous location and now has a new spot at the Disney park.

Goofy can now be found in front of a new mural in the Africa section of Animal Kingdom near a backstage gate, as reported and photographed by WDWNT. The Goofy location is near the Harambe Market food and beverage spot, which itself will close temporarily until early 2026.

Harambe Market will close on October 20, 2025, as Disney realigns its menu to support the closure of Restaurantosaurus. As such, the location will begin serving American staples like hamburgers and chicken strips. The food usually on offer at Harambe Market will then shift to Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery, which will also extend its opening hours.

Guests visiting not just Animal Kingdom but Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios over the next year should be prepared to stay close to updates and new information, as it is likely that more changes and schedule shifts will be issued while these major theme park overhauls take place.

About Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
