Packing for a Walt Disney World vacation has always sparked plenty of debate. Some guests prioritize comfort, others plan matching family outfits, and plenty of Disney fans spend weeks deciding what to wear in each park. At the same time, Disney’s dress code has remained a frequent topic of conversation, especially as social media continues to spotlight outfits that push the boundaries of what’s allowed.

Now, visitors have another wardrobe warning to keep in mind before they zip up their suitcases.

While most longtime Disney fans already know the basic clothing rules in the theme parks, a brand-new on-property experience introduces additional expectations that could catch some guests by surprise. If your vacation plans include more than attractions and restaurants, you’ll want to make sure your packing list reflects those changes.

The Dress Code Most Disney Guests Already Know

Walt Disney World has maintained clothing guidelines for years, and most regular visitors are already familiar with the basics.

Because the resort welcomes families from around the world, Disney expects guests to wear clothing that remains appropriate for all ages. Shirts featuring offensive language or explicit images are prohibited, and Disney can deny entry or ask guests to change if their clothing violates those standards.

The company also limits costumes inside the theme parks. With a few seasonal exceptions, guests age 14 and older cannot wear full costumes or outfits that could be mistaken for Disney cast member attire. The rule helps avoid confusion for other visitors while maintaining the immersive atmosphere throughout the parks.

Disney also reserves the right to refuse entry to guests wearing excessively revealing clothing or garments that create safety concerns. While the guidelines leave some room for interpretation, the goal has always been to create a comfortable environment for families.

For most vacations, following those rules is enough. But that’s no longer the complete picture.

A New Experience Comes With New Expectations

One of Disney Springs’ newest attractions, LEVEL99, brings a completely different style of entertainment to Walt Disney World.

Instead of sitting down for a show or riding an attraction, guests move through dozens of physical and mental challenge rooms that encourage climbing, crawling, balancing, jumping, and problem-solving as teams race against the clock.

Because the experience involves constant movement, LEVEL99 encourages guests to think differently about what they wear. Clothing that works perfectly for shopping or dinner may become uncomfortable—or even impractical—once the games begin.

That means packing for a Disney Springs visit may now require more planning than many guests expect.

Your Outfit Could Affect Your Visit

Disney Springs is a popular destination for dinners, shopping, and nightlife, so many guests naturally dress up before arriving.

That approach may not work at LEVEL99.

Because the attraction centers on physical challenges, athletic shoes are the best choice. Guests spend much of their visit running, climbing, crawling, and moving between challenge rooms, making heels, sandals, and other dress shoes impractical. If you’re planning a nicer evening afterward, bringing an extra pair of sneakers is a smart idea.

Clothing matters, too. Loose or bulky outfits can make the challenges harder and feel uncomfortable in Florida’s heat. Lightweight, comfortable clothing is the better option.

LEVEL99 also enforces appearance standards. Management may deny entry to guests wearing clothing that’s excessively dirty or “heavily torn,” or that displays offensive language or imagery on clothing, hats, jewelry, or visible tattoos. As with Disney’s theme parks, guests should also avoid overly revealing attire, including swimwear and similar clothing, to help maintain a family-friendly environment.

Fans Will Likely Have Plenty to Say

Whenever Disney updates or expands guest policies, opinions usually follow close behind.

Some visitors will likely appreciate the added guidance, arguing that athletic clothing simply makes sense for an experience built around physical challenges. Others may feel frustrated if they arrive dressed for an evening at Disney Springs only to discover their footwear or outfit isn’t ideal.

The conversation also reflects a larger trend across Walt Disney World. As the resort continues adding more interactive attractions beyond traditional rides, guests increasingly need to consider functionality alongside style.

For many people, vacation outfits are planned around photos, character dining, or nighttime entertainment. Experiences like LEVEL99 prioritize comfort, mobility, and practicality instead.

Pack Smart Before You Go

For most Walt Disney World vacations, the traditional park dress code remains unchanged. As long as guests avoid offensive clothing, follow costume restrictions, and wear attire appropriate for a family environment, they shouldn’t encounter any issues inside the theme parks.

However, vacations have evolved beyond the four parks alone. Disney Springs now offers experiences that place additional expectations on what guests should wear to participate comfortably.

If LEVEL99 is part of your itinerary, it may be worth setting aside your dress shoes and packing a pair of sneakers instead. A small adjustment before leaving home could save you from an uncomfortable experience—or an unexpected problem at the door—allowing you to focus on conquering the challenges waiting inside rather than wishing you had packed differently.
