According to Click Orlando, the forecast is turning wetter and stormier as the weekend approaches. “The weather pattern changes heading into the weekend as moisture increases and an upper-level low moves across Florida,” the outlet reported. “That will lead to scattered to numerous showers and storms each day, with rain chances climbing to 70-80%.”
The report also warns that some of these storms could be more than a passing shower. “A few stronger storms will be possible each day, with frequent lightning, 40 to 50 mph wind gusts, and locally heavy rainfall of 1 to 3 inches. That could lead to some minor flooding, especially where heavy rain repeats.”
For guests planning full days at the parks, that combination of lightning, high winds, and heavy rainfall could mean repeated interruptions to outdoor attractions, parades, and fireworks shows like Happily Ever After throughout the weekend.
The forecast arrives just after Disney World faced a vulnerability in its monorail system due to severe weather. The resort’s iconic monorail recently experienced a high-profile disruption after being struck by lightning, leaving guests stranded on the elevated track for an extended period. With storms expected to bring frequent lightning again this weekend, similar incidents remain a possibility, and guests relying on the monorail for transportation between parks and resorts may want to have a backup plan in mind, such as a bus or a car, where available.
