Bakso turned two years old in September 2026, making this a natural point for the tiger to begin the next stage of his life. Guests can continue seeing him along the Maharajah Jungle Trek for a limited time before he leaves Disney World.
That gives Disney fans another opportunity to stop by and see Bakso before his departure, although anyone hoping to do so will want to keep in mind that Disney has only said the move will happen sometime this fall.
While saying goodbye to an animal that guests have watched since he was a cub can be difficult, Bakso’s departure has a much larger purpose tied to the future of Sumatran tigers.
Bakso Could Play a Role in Protecting His Species
Bakso’s move is connected to a recommendation from the Association of Zoos & Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan.

Disney Parks Blog explained that fewer than 600 Sumatran tigers remain in the wild and said Bakso could someday father cubs, contributing to the future of the critically endangered species.

Bakso is growing up, and Disney says the next stage of his life could help support the survival of his species.

Like other big cats, Sumatran tigers are carnivores. At Walt Disney World, their food is prepared through Disney’s Animal Nutrition Center.

Bakso’s presence has made the trail particularly interesting since his debut in early 2025, especially for guests who have returned several times and watched him mature.
Anyone visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom this fall may want to include Maharajah Jungle Trek in their plans if seeing Bakso one more time is important to them.
Because Disney has only given a general fall timeline for the move, there is no guarantee that he will remain at the park through the entire season.
