Magic Kingdom Coffee Kiosk Pulls Syrups Over Bee Activity
Guests grabbing their morning coffee at Magic Kingdom are running into a new advisory sign this week, and it has nothing to do with pricing or hours. The Joffrey’s Revive kiosk near Tomorrowland has temporarily removed all flavored syrups and sauces after a spike in bee activity around the open-air stand.
According to Kenny the Pirate, a posted sign now reads: “Bee-Ware: Syrups and sauces are temporarily unavailable to reduce the attraction of bees to this location.” For now, the kiosk is serving drip coffee, latte, cappuccino, and cold brew only. Anyone hoping for a caramel or vanilla add-in will need to walk over to a Starbucks location instead.
Why This Is Happening Now
Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Company kiosks sit at the center of Walt Disney World’s beverage lineup, dotted throughout every theme park and served across Disney Resort hotels and select dining locations. Because the Revive stand operates in an open-air format, its sugary syrups and sauces are directly exposed to the outdoors, and that exposure is exactly what’s drawing bees in.
Beekeepers refer to midsummer as a “nectar dearth” — a stretch when flowers produce less nectar than usual. During this period, honey bees actively seek out alternative sugar sources, and an open kiosk pouring flavored syrup all day is about as attractive a target as exists in the park.
This isn’t a new phenomenon for Walt Disney World. Bee activity has disrupted Joffrey’s locations across the resort for years, at times forcing temporary kiosk closures, cutting down available drink options, and creating tough working conditions for cast members stationed at these stands. Reports of similar incidents have surfaced at multiple parks, not just Magic Kingdom, which points to a resort-wide pattern rather than an isolated kiosk issue.
What’s Different This Time
Rather than treating each bee surge as a one-off problem, Disney appears to be moving toward a permanent structural fix. Several Joffrey’s kiosks at EPCOT have already been retrofitted with windows, mesh screening, and enclosed serving areas designed to keep bees out entirely while still allowing cast members to serve guests without interruption.
If those enclosed designs hold up through peak bee season, they could reduce guest encounters with bees, improve working conditions for cast members, and cut down on the kind of temporary menu reductions now playing out at the Revive kiosk. Disney has not confirmed whether the Magic Kingdom location or other resort kiosks will receive the same retrofit, so for now, the syrup removal is a stopgap rather than a permanent change.
