Walt Disney World Resort made some sweeping changes to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party last night.
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on select nights from August 7 through October 31, 2026, with festivities taking place from 7 p.m. to midnight. Highlights include Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, featuring the Headless Horseman, Haunted Mansion ghosts, and Disney villains, plus the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular starring the Sanderson Sisters.

Guests can also watch Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, a fireworks show hosted by Jack Skellington, and collect candy from trick-or-treat stations throughout Magic Kingdom. New for 2026 is a Stitch masquerade featuring Lilo and Angel in Tomorrowland. Space Mountain operates in darkness with spooky music, while Mad Tea Party gets special Halloween lighting.
However, last night’s party looked a little bit different than usual.
Disney World Issues Apology During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Guests at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party received an apology push notification via the My Disney Experience app yesterday (October 8, 2026) after Disney was forced to make multiple changes.
Heavy rain disrupted the party at Magic Kingdom last night, forcing Disney to cancel the first performance of Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade and several performances of the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. One guest reported that the rain was particularly heavy during the first half of the event.

Disney eventually brought forward the second parade during a break in the rain, although the Headless Horseman was noticeably absent. The fireworks spectacular, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, went ahead at 10 p.m. Meanwhile, one guest reported that Stitch failed to appear at his designated meet-and-greet location during their visit.
As a result, guests received a free Park Hopper as an apology.
“Your event ticket has automatically been converted to a 1-day ticket with Park Hopper option to any Walt Disney World® theme park, valid for one year from the date of your original event ticket,” the My Disney Experience app notification read.
This is far from the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party to suffer weather disruptions this fall. One guest who attended an earlier event reported that heavy rain forced significant changes to the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, while performers in Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade walked through the route instead of performing their usual choreography.

The guest, who had spent six days at Walt Disney World, described the weather as unusually miserable compared to previous visits. Rain also disrupted a subsequent day at Magic Kingdom, briefly stopping for the nighttime fireworks before returning. Despite visiting Disney World regularly, the guest expressed frustration at spending thousands of dollars on a vacation plagued by bad weather.
Florida’s unusually wet fall comes as El Niño continues to strengthen, potentially becoming one of the most powerful on record. On October 8, NOAA reported a greater than 83% chance of a strong-to-very strong El Niño persisting through January to March 2027. The weather pattern can bring wetter conditions to Florida, particularly during winter.
Meanwhile, Florida is facing a separate threat from Hurricane Isaias, which strengthened into a Category 3 storm on Friday. The hurricane is expected to make landfall along the northern Gulf Coast, potentially affecting the Florida Panhandle with damaging winds, flooding, and dangerous storm surge. Orlando is outside the storm’s projected landfall area.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party returns tonight, October 9, with more events scheduled through Halloween, including October 13, 15, 16, and 18. All remaining dates are sold out, but guests may face further weather disruptions.
Although Hurricane Isaias is primarily threatening the northern Gulf Coast, Florida’s unpredictable October weather could still affect upcoming parties. Rain and thunderstorms may force Disney to modify or cancel outdoor entertainment, particularly parades and fireworks, although widespread cancellations are far from guaranteed.
