Comprehensive refurbishment schedule announced for 2025

Disney World has announced an extensive refurbishment schedule for 2025, aimed at enhancing guest experiences across its various parks. The timeline includes major attraction closures and anticipated openings that will significantly change how visitors interact with the park’s offerings. With several beloved attractions undergoing renovations, guests may want to familiarize themselves with the schedule to ensure a smooth visit.

Magic Kingdom Renovations

In the Magic Kingdom, the Hall of Presidents has recently reopened with Donald Trump as the newest character, creating some buzz among visitors. This iconic attraction, featuring audio-animatronics of U.S. Presidents, remains a staple for many guests.
However, not all news is positive: Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is scheduled to close on August 4, 2024, for upgrades until 2026. Although the downtime may disappoint fans, it promises to enhance the ride experience upon reopening.

One of the most significant projects occurring in Magic Kingdom is the comprehensive revamp of Frontierland, including the well-loved Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which will be closed for all of 2025. This construction update indicates a commitment to modernizing classic attractions and meeting visitor expectations.

EPCOT Update and Reopening

EPCOT reports fewer closures compared to recent years, mainly due to the completion of extensive upgrades. The highlight for the upcoming schedule is the reopening of Test Track 3.0 on July 22, 2025. Guests have eagerly anticipated improvements to the ride and expect it to attract large crowds upon its return.

With the significant renovation projects wrapped up, the atmosphere in EPCOT has noticeably improved. To that end, Spaceship Earth will shut down in late August for a multi-month update.

This relative calm allows guests to enjoy the park with fewer interruptions, enhancing their overall experience. Attraction maintenance will take precedence, ensuring a quality visit for returning guests.

Hollywood Studios Revamp

In Hollywood Studios, the park has transitioned from Muppets Courtyard to prepare for the introduction of the Monsters, Inc. Land. This change has led to the closure of several nostalgic attractions, reflecting Disney’s ongoing efforts to revitalize guest experiences. The Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith will remain operational through 2025 but is expected to transform into a Muppets-themed experience, scheduled for 2026. While specific dates are yet to be announced, anticipation builds around the upcoming changes.

Animal Kingdom Transformations

Animal Kingdom is also set for significant changes, particularly with the closure of DinoLand U.S.A. to transform into Tropical Americas Land. The boneyard is slated to close on September 1, 2025, with the popular DINOSAUR ride also expected to bid farewell in early 2026. These updates align with Disney’s commitment to enhancing its attractions and creating fresh guest experiences.

In a further bid to invigorate the park, the classic attraction It’s Tough to be a Bug has already closed to make way for Zootopia: Better Together, which is anticipated to debut this winter. This ongoing focus on expansions indicates a long-term strategy aimed at improving the overall guest experience in Animal Kingdom.

Resort and Transportation Updates

Refurbishments at Disney World extend beyond the parks, with Disney hotels scheduled for periodic updates to maintain high standards of service and accommodation. Travelers looking to stay at Disney resorts are advised to check for any potential construction updates before their visits.

Furthermore, the Skyliner gondola system will be closed in late January for a week of maintenance. This measure is crucial to ensure the safety and efficiency of the transportation system, which plays a vital role in enhancing the guest experience at Disney World.

As Disney World embarks on this extensive refurbishment initiative, visitors are encouraged to stay informed and plan their visits accordingly. The updates signal a bright future for attractions and accommodations, promising continued magic for new and returning guests.
