Disney’s BoardWalk is in the middle of another transformation, and Walt Disney World appears to have one more dining surprise waiting in the wings.
Disney has confirmed that Atlantic Dance Hall will soon stop operating as a regular public venue, while the former Jellyrolls space is being reimagined as Hurly-Burly. But a detail tucked inside the latest Disney Vacation Club publication may matter just as much for the future of the waterfront: a brand-new quick-service restaurant is on the way.
For an area that has lost several longtime establishments in recent years, the news adds another piece to what is shaping up to be a significant overhaul.
Atlantic Dance Hall Shifts to Private Events
Set along Crescent Lake, Atlantic Dance Hall has long been one of Walt Disney World’s more unusual venues, offering adults a dedicated place to dance and spend an evening away from the parks.
That chapter is closing. Disney has confirmed that the venue’s final regular public weekend runs from September 25 through September 27. Starting October 1, it will no longer operate its usual weekend walk-in schedule and will instead remain available for private events, including weddings and other functions.
The building itself isn’t going anywhere. Disney is simply changing how one of the BoardWalk’s most recognizable venues will be used.
Hurly-Burly Opens in the Former Jellyrolls
Disney has taken the space in a very different direction, drawing inspiration from a historic seaside theater. Earlier in the day, Hurly-Burly will welcome families with trivia and games. Later in the evening, it transitions into an adults-only venue offering live music, cocktails, and light bites. That split format gives the location a purpose well beyond the late-night crowd.
A Mystery Quick-Service Restaurant Is Coming
The biggest surprise came from Disney Files, the quarterly magazine produced for Disney Vacation Club members. Alongside coverage of the previously announced Hurly-Burly and Basin additions, the publication referenced a “soon-to-be-announced” quick-service dining destination for the BoardWalk (via WDWNT).
Beyond that, official details are scarce. Disney has not revealed the restaurant’s name, cuisine, theme, menu, or opening date, and its exact location has not been confirmed. The magazine did encourage readers to watch the Disney Parks Blog for more information, suggesting an announcement could arrive after the issue went to press.
A new quick-service spot wouldn’t be arriving on an empty promenade. The BoardWalk already offers BoardWalk Deli, Pizza Window, and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs, along with sweets and coffee from BoardWalk Ice Cream, Carousel Coffee, and The Cake Bake Shop Bakery.
Even so, another option would broaden the lineup, particularly if Disney uses it to introduce a food style the BoardWalk currently lacks.
The Bigger Picture for Disney’s BoardWalk
The mystery restaurant is just one part of a wider shift. Basin is also on its way, bringing bath and body products, along with hands-on experiences such as custom bath tea blending and soap-making.
Several longtime venues have vanished from the waterfront in recent years, leaving noticeable gaps. Disney now appears to be filling them with a mix of dining, entertainment, and retail, and at least one of those additions remains almost entirely under wraps.
