Disney World Confirms Vacation-Altering Change for Magic Kingdom This Thanksgiving

Walt Disney World Resort’s decision to significantly increase its attraction passes will leave thousands of guests unable to enjoy multiple rides and experiences this upcoming Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving week at Walt Disney World is shaping up to be the priciest stretch yet for Lightning Lane. Magic Kingdom’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass breaks new ground at $479 on Monday, November 23, and that same record price returns for Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 26. Single Pass and Multi Pass prices are also climbing across all four parks, building on the increases that took effect at the start of the month.

For families planning a holiday trip, it’s one more cost to factor into what is already among the most expensive times of year to visit. Not only that, but most families will not be able to afford the high price tag, and while not compulsory, the high-traffic environment of the parks at Thanksgiving will also send standby wait times soaring. This together will see thousands of guests unable to access rides–either by wait duration or high costs–and alter how vacations are experienced.

A New Era of Single Pass Pricing

Disney raised its Single Pass ceilings on November 1, 2026, at four of the resort’s biggest draws: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, TRON Lightcycle / Run, Avatar Flight of Passage, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Cosmic Rewind and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train took the largest hits, each rising by $3 at the top end.

Single Pass works independently of Multi Pass, giving guests access to the marquee rides left out of the standard Multi Pass lineup. Because pricing shifts by date and demand, the maximum isn’t charged every day. At the top of the scale, Cosmic Rewind, TRON Lightcycle / Run, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance now share the resort’s highest Single Pass price of $25.

Magic Kingdom Premier Pass Climbs to $479

Until now, $449 marked the upper limit for Magic Kingdom’s Premier Pass, a figure Disney generally held back for peak periods such as Spring Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. That changes on November 23, when the pass jumps $30 to $479. The new high sits $180 above the $299 entry price Disney rolled out earlier in 2026.

The bigger surprise is Thanksgiving Day. November 26 also carries the $479 price, making it one of only two days that week to hit the new ceiling. The remaining dates aren’t much gentler, with Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday priced at $449 and Friday, November 27, the cheapest option at $429.

Monday Leads the Way Across the Resort

November 23 is the standout date for prices at every park. EPCOT’s Premier Pass reaches $269, Animal Kingdom’s hits $219, and Hollywood Studios’ climbs to $369, all matching their highest-ever figures. Guests who wait until Thanksgiving will pay noticeably less outside Magic Kingdom, with Premier Pass costing $229 at EPCOT, $179 at Animal Kingdom, and $339 at Hollywood Studios.

Multi Pass tells a similar story. Magic Kingdom tops out at a record $45 on Monday and costs $42 on Thanksgiving. EPCOT starts the week at $35 before dropping to $28 on the holiday itself. Hollywood Studios charges $39 from Monday through Wednesday and $37 on Thursday, while Animal Kingdom holds at $29 early in the week before easing to $25 for Thanksgiving.

On the Single Pass side, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance stays locked at $25 every day, and TRON Lightcycle / Run matches that price on both November 23 and Thanksgiving. Cosmic Rewind costs $25 on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, but just $23 on Thanksgiving. Avatar Flight of Passage holds at its all-time high of $20 all week, while Seven Dwarfs Mine Train opens at $18 before settling at $16.

What’s Driving the Holiday Increases

The timing is no accident. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is underway at Magic Kingdom, Disney Jollywood Nights is running at Hollywood Studios, and the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays opens later this month. Add Thanksgiving and Christmas vacation crowds, and standby lines grow long enough that many guests turn to Lightning Lane regardless of cost.

Prices still vary by date, so not every visitor will face these peaks. The My Disney Experience app shows exact pricing for individual travel dates and is worth checking before booking.

A clearer picture of guest spending may be just around the corner. Disney reports its fiscal fourth quarter and full-year results on November 17, offering fresh insight into theme park revenue and how much more guests are spending at the parks.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
