Walt Disney World Resort offers many attractions for the whole family to enjoy. It contains water rides, kiddie rides, dark rides, roller coasters, spinners, and simulators. But some of the attractions that receive the most attention are its iconic roller coasters and thrills. However, some of them are greatly overrated Disney rides.
TRON Lightcycle/Run
As one of the newest attractions at Magic Kingdom Park, starting the list with this entry is painful. However, this new roller coaster asks a lot of its guests and rewards them with not enough thrills or track time.
It is one of the most popular rides at Magic Kingdom Park and has the longest wait. Even with the new virtual queue system or paying for an Individual Lighting Lane will still yield one of the longer waits you’ll find at Walt Disney World Resort.
But after six years of building the new thrill ride, guests were (and still are) surprised by how fast the ride is. And we aren’t talking speed. We are talking about an incredibly short run time.

Although it has a fantastic launch (just like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster), it doesn’t have the same charm, inversions, or fun twists and drops of the Aerosmith-themed coaster.
The entire ride is only about one minute, making it one of the shortest ride times of all the attractions in Walt Disney World. You may find more thrills (and better theming) next door on Space Mountain.

Slinky Dog Dash Roller Coaster
This family-style coaster was added to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2018 with the rest of Toy Story Land. Although little kids may get some enjoyment out of the little dips and launching sections, there are better roller coasters Disney has built.
It often yields high wait times, but this is likely because Disney’s Hollywood Studios doesn’t offer many rides for kids. It’s also a newer ride and anyone who hasn’t been to Walt Disney World in the past five years is going to want to check it out.
Roller Coaster fans may enjoy Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster more while little ones may find more fun thrills with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
Test Track
Test Track is not a roller coaster, per se, but it is still one of the few thrills EPCOT has to offer. The original attraction was a fun take on the theme of transportation and car development. You were the test dummy riding a test vehicle as it was exposed to speed, turns, elements, anti-lock brakes, and a few other surprises.

But after being rethemed and remade, much of the story was stripped out, resulting in an inferior ride. A much superior version of the ride system exists at Disney California Adventure Park. But rather than riding random test cars, you are transported to the world of Disney/Pixar Cars (2006) and engage in a race through Radiator Springs.
DINOSAUR
This is the major attraction of Dinoland, U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It takes guests to the Cretaceous period searching for an Iguanodon. It’s a thrilling ride with a plot, a pre-show, and a decent amount of audio-animatronic dinosaurs. But its biggest problem is that the ride can often be incredibly rough.

Many theme park fans, even those who may prefer Universal Studios or Six Flags to Disney, don’t want a rough ride. Critics often describe it as jerky, and if you’ve been to Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently, you may notice the line is very short nowadays.
Like Test Track, a superior attraction exists on the West Coast, but it’s themed to Indiana Jones. Although the ride system and track layout is similar, it doesn’t feel as rough as DINOSAUR.

Final Thoughts on Overrated Disney Rides
There are many attractions that some would consider overrated at Walt Disney World Resort, such as “it’s a small world” and Peter Pan’s Flight. But sometimes people forget that even the big thrill rides can still be just as disappointing.
All this being said, if it’s your visit…I’d still check out and see as much as you can. Overrated or not, many of these attractions are unique to Walt Disney World. And besides, who knows when you’ll be back?
