Disneyland Resort’s Space Mountain is a fan-favorite roller coaster that catapults riders through the vast, starry “outer space” at exhilarating speeds. Recently, some lucky guests got an experience few ever have: a sudden stop mid-ride and an unexpected behind-the-scenes look at the attraction with the lights on.

Disneyland Park guest Becca, known as @beastmode.becca on TikTok, captured the rare moment when her Space Mountain journey came to a halt. The video shows Becca and her ride companion paused after Disney cast members flipped on the overhead lights, revealing the inner workings of the Tomorrowland attraction.

“We’re stuck,” Becca can be heard saying in the video, which gives viewers a look at the coaster’s structural bones, far from the dazzling “outer space” that Disney Park guests are used to seeing.

Shortly after, Disney cast members arrived to explain the situation and guide guests through the evacuation process. “They did a great job of explaining what would happen next,” Becca shared, commending the Disney cast members for keeping everyone calm and comfortable during the unusual delay. For safety, Disney cast members helped guests exit row by row, one at a time, onto a platform.

The adventure didn’t stop there. Guests were then led down a series of stairs under parts of the Space Mountain track—a unique opportunity for fans curious about what lies beyond the ride’s typical journey. The backstage trek gave guests a firsthand look at the backstage part of Space Mountain, an area typically reserved for Disney cast members only.

Despite the delay, Becca and her fellow guests took it in stride. She praised Disney’s evacuation team for their efficiency and even shared that cast members provided complimentary Lightning Lane passes as a “thank you” for their patience. “We just had fun with it,” Becca concluded. “Sometimes, the experience of a ride breaking down is more fun.”

While the cause of the ride stoppage remains unknown, Space Mountain resumed operation shortly afterward, and Disneyland Park guests got back to their regularly scheduled adventures in Tomorrowland.
