Disney’s Latest Technology Has Guests Concerned About Their Privacy

How easy is it to ask virtual assistants for help? Whenever you’re in a pickle, it’s incredibly convenient to ask Siri, Alexa, and Google to help answer your questions.

But have you ever thought that you’d be calling out, “Hey, Disney” for help? At this Walt Disney World Resort, that’s exactly what Guests can now do.

Walt Disney World has recently announced that the Hey Disney voice assistant is currently testing in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Although the Disney Magical Companion already exists onboard Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, this new device has not made its way into Walt Disney World Resort hotels until now.

As the Hey Disney voice assistant tests continue, Disney has announced that this technology will come to other Walt Disney World Resort hotels in 2023.

Despite the fact that this voice assistant technology is cutting edge for the Disney Resort, some fans are finding themselves uncomfortable by the invasion of privacy.

However, another fan quickly points some unsettling information out as they Tweet, “Creepy. It’s proven even when muted Alexa and google keep listening.”

As fans ask whether the device can be unplugged or removed, Scott Gustin shares some calming news.

This new device definitely isn’t for everyone, and it’s relieving to hear that Walt Disney World Resort won’t make this device a mandatory part of anyone’s stay.
