Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the largest of the four theme parks in Walt Disney World and is home to several different areas each themed in their own unique way. Within each area of the park, there are fun attractions, entertaining shows, dining opportunities, and endless amounts of detail. With such rich details, exotic animals, and lush plant life it is no wonder that many guests consider the park to also be the most beautiful in Walt Disney World. With so much to see and explore in the park, guests are sure to find plenty of places to enjoy themselves. Here are eight amazing places in Disney’s Animal Kingdom that shouldn’t be missed by guests.


8. Maharajah Jungle Trek –

Located in the Asia section of the park, this amazing area is a self-guided walk through tour of the Anandapur Royal Forest which is home to lush jungles, temple ruins, and beautiful waterfalls. While exploring the path, guest can encounter bats, tigers, and dozens of species of birds. Walking along the path in the morning hours ensures a quiet adventure and beautiful photo opportunities, making this an amazing place that guests shouldn’t miss!

7. Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail —

This trail is much like the Maharajah Jungle Trek is that it is self-guided and full of beautiful details and animals. Nestled in the back of the Africa section of the park, the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail is home to a combination of environments and habitats ranging from savannahs to jungle forests. Guests can find themselves face to face with animals including zebras, meerkats, and gorillas. While the whole trail is amazing, the gorilla area is one of the most beautiful places in the park full of lush hills, roaring waterfalls, and playful and curious gorillas. Guests should definitely not miss enjoying this awesome trail.

6. Flame Tree Barbecue’s Patio –

This quick service dining location on Discovery Island can be smelled before guests find it! Serving up mouthwatering barbecue options like ribs, pulled pork, grilled chicken, cornbread, and turkey legs, this dining location is a guest favorite on a day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. However, the most enjoyable part of Flame Tree Barbecue is a small patio located behind the ordering counters. Slightly hidden, this patio is generally not crowded and offers sweeping views across the river to Expedition Everest. This amazing place to enjoy a meal can’t be missed on a day in the park.

5. Restaurantosaurus –

This quick service dining location in Dinoland USA offers up meals including burgers and chicken nuggets in a unique setting. Since the restaurant is located near the Dino Institute, many of the students and archaeologists are frequent customers there, often leaving behind weird and funny artifacts, notes, photos, or jokes. Guests who choose to eat in Restaurantosaurus should definitely take the time to walk around the amazing dining areas and enjoy all of the details!


4. The Tree of Life’s Roots –

While the Tree of Life is a beautiful and impressive symbol of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, an amazing place that guests shouldn’t miss are the tree’s roots. Nestled at the base of the tree are more intricate animal carvings including a massive chimpanzee that guests can pose with honoring scientist Jane Goodall and her life’s work. Guests can also explore the lobby of the theater playing “It’s Tough To Be A Bug” which is housed in the Tree of Life’s roots. In the lobby are playful posters showing that the bugs know how to but an insect themed spin on some classic plays and musicals.

3. The Oasis –

This is the section of the park located just inside the main entrance and it spans back to the bridge leading to Discovery Island and the Tree of Life. Many guests don’t stop to enjoy The Oasis because they are in a hurry to get to their first attraction or they are tired at the end of a long day in the park and are just looking for the exit. This amazing area is home to lush plants, running water, and several animal habitats including boars, wallabies, and anteaters. Guests should definitely take some time to simply enjoy the beautiful environment in this amazing section of the park.

2. Wildlife Express Train –

This attraction can be found in the rear of the park in the Africa section and it takes guests on a trip from Harambe to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Guests should not miss this amazing journey as it takes them past backstage areas of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, offering unique glimpses into animal housing, various facilities, and veterinary locations. Guests will love this backstage glimpse into what goes on behind the scenes on an amazing day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

1. Pandora – The World of Avatar – 

Pandora – The World of Avatar is the newest land in the Animal Kingdom theme park. Here you will find two extremely popular attractions known as Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. You can expect a thrilling ride on Avatar Flight of Passage as you climb aboard a Banshee (dragon-like creature) and ride through the beautiful World of Avatar. The Na’vi River Journey is a perfect family-friendly attraction as guests boat down river and see just how beautiful the Na’vi tribe’s rainforest is with bioluminescence lighting and the latest animatronics. Outside of these two attractions, the land is almost like an attraction itself with stunning beauty and ability to interact with guests. Expect large crowds to be flocking to this area for quite some time!
