Earl of Sandwich Opens Brand New Table-Service Restaurant At Disney

It’s become a classic – and delicious –  staple of a Disney vacation.

With its British charm and hot sandwich variety, Earl of Sandwich has been serving Disney Guests since 2004 when it opened in Downtown Disney (now Disney Springs) at Walt Disney World. The quick-service sandwich chain now has 38 locations all over the world, including at Disney Village in Disneyland Paris and, of course, in Anaheim, California.

And now, the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort has welcomed a new concept restaurant of Earl of Sandwich for a limited time.

The original Earl of Sandwich quick-service restaurant was closed in the Downtown Disney District in January 2021 as part of the ongoing overhaul of the area. The closure was met with much surprise and outrage from fans and Disney Park Guests, but now, we have two Earl of Sandwich dining locations open at Disneyland!

As of today, February 28, 2023, both Earl of Sandwich and the new Earl of Sandwich Tavern are now open at Disneyland Resort’s Downtown Disney District.

The exciting new Earl of Sandwich Tavern is a “full-service restaurant, offering a seated breakfast, lunch & dinner, in addition to a full bar.” The table service concept is a sit-down dining experience, offering a full food menu with an indoor bar, serving signature cocktails, wine, and beer. The Tavern features al fresco dining on the patio.

The menu — which includes starters, soup, salads, sandwiches, and other entrées — is different from the menu at the quick-service Earl of Sandwich counter. The menu for Earl of Sandwich Tavern has been criticized as being pricey, with sandwich meals starting at $22 and bread bowls priced at $25.

Guests can start the day with breakfast dishes like Croissant French Toast, Breakfast Slam, Avocado Toast, Breakfast Burrito, Eggs Benedict, and Western Omelet.

Signature sandwiches include a gourmet Grilled Cheese, B.E.L.T Sandwich, Turkey Club, Turkey Bacon Panini Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, Chimichurri Steak Sandwich, Mac-N-Cheese Burger, and Down Town Burger. The Tavern also offers entrees including Sesame Ginger Salmon, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Fish Tacos, Fish & Chips, Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Roasted Prime Rib of Beef, and Slow Roasted Chicken.

Both locations are said to be “temporary,”, with the quick-service Earl of Sandwich location reopening back on February 1, just over a year after its previous location closed for the reimagining of the Downtown Disney District.

Like the quick-service location, Earl of Sandwich Tavern is located in the former La Brea Bakery location, presumably until a new permanent home for the restaurant is constructed. This space is eventually set to be demolished and used for the Porto’s Bakery location announced at D23 Expo 2022.

La Brea Bakery officially closed at Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort earlier this year. The location had been a part of the shopping district for 20 years. Earl of Sandwich is a fan favorite amongst Disneyland and Walt Disney World visitors, making its return to the district in a new, temporary location serving its signature hot sandwiches, salads, bakery items, and breakfast dishes a welcome surprise.
