A central entrance to the Mexico World Showcase Pavilion has been closed for construction, forcing EPCOT guests to use alternate routes to access restaurants, shops, and the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros attraction.
The closure began Tuesday, February 10, blocking the left entrance to the pyramid structure when facing it from outside in the EPCOT World Showcase. Construction barriers now restrict access to what was previously a primary entry point to the pavilion’s interior.
Scaffolding and Scrim Block Doorway
WDWNT reported gray metal scaffolding and construction scrim surrounding the closed entrance. Inside the pavilion, two large support beams sit behind a sign directing Disney Park guests to “please use an alternate exit.”

A beige scrim—color-matched to the pyramid exterior—covers a large opening in the building’s side, suggesting crews are conducting ductwork or mechanical maintenance. The visible hole indicates work extends beyond cosmetic repairs.
The pyramid’s exterior Aztec-inspired carvings and decorative paintwork appear unaffected by the construction so far.
Single Entrance Now Serves Both Directions
EPCOT guests must now use the right-side entrance when facing the pyramid from World Showcase. This single doorway functions as both entry and exit, potentially creating congestion during busy periods.

The Mexico Pavilion houses Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros, a boat ride following Donald Duck and friends through Mexican culture and landmarks. San Angel Inn Restaurante offers table-service dining in a perpetual twilight atmosphere overlooking the attraction. Multiple shops inside sell Mexico-exclusive merchandise, including handcrafted items and souvenirs.

Walt Disney World Resort has not announced the project publicly or provided a completion estimate. The Central Florida vacation destination typically conducts minor maintenance and refurbishment work without published timelines.
