Family-Friendly Disney Attraction Finally Returns After 300+ Days

A family-friendly attraction is returning to the Disney theme parks after a lengthy closure.

Guests will soon be able to take to the skies on a magic carpet ride again at Disneyland Paris, with the resort officially announcing the reopening date for its Carpets over Agrabah attraction.

The Aladdin-themed family ride will reopen later this weekend, November 9, 2024, following its extensive 10-month refurbishment.

The ride closed in January, and during its closure, the Wat Disney Imagineering and Design & Delivery teams collaborated on updating the attraction in numerous ways, both in terms of visuals and design and overall safety.

The attraction was mostly dismantled during its closure, with all pieces of the central structure being renovated by Disneyland Paris’ central workshops teams, according to Disneyland Paris News.

It’s time for Disneyland Paris guests to fly to a whole new world again! On Saturday, November 9, 2024, Les Tapis Volants – Flyings Carpets over Agrabah will officially reopen after a 10-month renovation.

The attraction is found inside Walt Disney Studios Park, one of two theme parks featured at Disneyland Paris. The resort’s original theme park, Disneyland Park, first opened in 1992, while Walt Disney Studios has welcomed guests since 2002.

The Aladdin attraction is a near carbon copy of the one found at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, which itself was a reimagining of Disney’s classic Dumbo spinner ride.

A large, colorful animatronic elephant, designed based on Dumbo from the animated film, is seen flying in the attraction ride at Magic Kingdom. The joyful elephant with big ears and a blue and yellow outfit soars against a vibrant sky at dusk, enchanting visitors of all ages.

While certainly not the most intense or thrilling offering at the Disney theme parks, Dumbo The Flying Elephant is often used in commercials and other marketing opportunities, but Disney becoming one of the company’s most recognizable theme park attractions of all time.

Both of Disneyland Paris’ theme parks are undergoing significant changes at the moment. Earlier this year, Disneyland Paris confirmed it will be renaming its Walt Disney Studios theme park as part of these renovations. Soon, Walt Disney Studios Park will be known as Disney Adventure World, a name that theoretically gives Disneyland Paris a lot more wiggle room when it comes to new attractions, rides, restaurants, and other experiences.
