At times like this, it can feel like there’s nothing you can do, but a campaign has started where her fans can honor her in a way and make a difference.

She never hid that she had a passion and love for animals. On January 17th, which would have been her 100th birthday, they encourage everyone to donate to their local animal shelter in Betty White’s name.

This is what was posted on goodnewsdog’s Instgram:

On Betty White’s 100th birthday, January 17th, everyone should pick a local rescue or animal shelter in your area and donate just $5 and Betty White’s name. Let’s make her 100th birthday the movement she deserves.

In 1987 she was given the Humane Award by the American Veterinary Medical Association and was also involved with the American Humane Organization and the Morris Animal Foundation.

Betty White was involved with many different organizations and was known for helping animals every chance she had. This would have been something that she would have loved knowing that animals could be saved and their lives are changed because of her.

This challenge has been shared by celebrities and many in the general public. You can get the word out about this challenge and use the hashtag #BettyWhiteChallenge.

Although $5 may not seem like much, if everyone does this, think of how big of an impact it can make and how her legacy can live on through animals being helped. She was a remarkable lady and is going to be missed.
