PHOTOS & VIDEO: First Look at New Scenes in Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

It has been a LONG time since we’ve been able to experience Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but the time has almost come for the show to return!

The iconic nighttime spectacular is currently operating for Cast Member previews, and the show will return to all Guests beginning this week on November 3, 2022. Ahead of its official reopening, Disney has released a new series of photos showcasing classic scenes as well as all-new sequences that will soon wow audiences at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater.

Included in the new set of photos are scenes featuring Moana (2016) and Mulan (1998) along with a newly reimagined version of the show’s Pocahontas (1995) scene. While Disney Parks fans knew that these classic Disney animated films would be included in the show when it was announced that Fantasmic! would return before the end of this year, the latest release from Disney is the first time we’ve had a look at the new scenes.

Even the portions of Fantasmic! that are familiar look like they’ve been refreshed with new lighting and effects according to the recent photos. The Evil Queen’s cauldron in particular appears to have been cleaned up with extra lighting installed, while other character looks also seem to be updated.

To guarantee your seat for Fantasmic! (especially without a lengthy time waiting ahead of the show) we recommend booking a Fantasmic! dining package. Doing so allows you to enjoy lunch or dinner at select table service restaurants at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with either a buffet or prix-fixe menu with entry into a reserved seating area for the show. Reservations for the dining package are based on availability and can be found on Disney’s website or the My Disney Experience app.

Disney’s official description of Fantasmic reads:

A Legendary Tale
Featuring stunning effects, thrilling stunts, dazzling pyrotechnics and rousing music, this larger-than-life show is painted on a grand canvas of dancing water and light. Overflowing with silly and suspenseful surprises, it will leave your entire family smiling from ear-to-ear!

A Night When Dreams Come True
Fast asleep, Mickey Mouse dreams that he is a mighty sorcerer’s apprentice with the power to control water, color and magic. The Disney Villains—including Maleficent in the form of a towering, 40-foot-tall dragon—turn Mickey’s dream into a nightmare, but don’t underestimate the power of Mickey’s imagination!

The fantastic fantasy includes Disney Characters from some of your favorite animated films: Moana, Frozen 2, Mulan, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King.

Theme park reporter Scott Gustin shared a promotional video of the new show scenes:

Will you be there on November 3 for the first show? Whenever you get around to your next showing of Fantasmic! it is sure to be a memorable experience with all of the new scenes and added nostalgia from this 1998 Disney classic.
