Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Disney World Wedding Details Revealed

In an ironic, and for many unexpected report, details of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Disney wedding in 2009 have been revealed.

While the Republican governor may have a rocky relationship with the Walt Disney World Resort as of late. The past year has involved a tense back and forth between the DeSantis administration and the Walt Disney Company following disagreements over the Parental Rights in Education Bill (and later the potential for the dismantling of Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District as a revenge tactic).

In an unexpected turn of events, a recent report revealed that DeSantis and his wife, Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis actually tied the knot at the Wedding Pavilion at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa back in 2009. The report by Business Insider indicates that the couple wed in a Catholic ceremony with views of Cinderella Castle across Seven Seas Lagoon before taking their Guests over to EPCOT for a reception.

DeSantis also took to Twitter this September to share an anniversary post, along with a photo that if we had to guess does look decidedly “2009 Disney Fine Art Photography”:

The Business Insider report takes its details from Guests in attendance at the Governor’s nuptials, who even noted that the couple were not necessarily huge Disney fans but rather that Casey DeSantis found wedding planning with Disney easier due to its all-inclusive structure. (As an aside, if you happen to be planning a Disney wedding today, we would note that the planning process has changed and Disney Fairytale Weddings now run on minimum expenditures rather than inclusive packages.)

Following the tension earlier this year between Disney and DeSantis, it is possible that the administration will set forth changes that could result in the Reedy Creek Improvement District essentially restructuring, however, we will continue to follow updates on the matter and will report back as we know more here on Disney Tips.
