There’s certainly been a lot of changes to the Walt Disney World Resort in recent months, though none quite as extensive or interesting as what’s currently happening in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland. Filled with adventure, and plenty of land, Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland is an iconic part of the Walt Disney World Resort, housing some of the company’s most iconic and famous attractions, like Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Caribbean.

However, it’s impossible to walk through Adventureland without noticing the overhaul of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean-themed area right between the end of Adventureland and Frontierland.

This construction work began months ago, but Disney recently hit a new milestone, completely dismantling its Pirates League, a former Pirates of the Caribbean-themed experience.

At Disney’s D23 event this August, the company confirmed a new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed bar would be coming to Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland soon, continuing the story of what is arguably Disney’s most iconic and legendary park ride.

This new bar will not only provide refreshment and relaxation for guests but also immerse them in the world of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean. However, the construction of a brand-new area meant several other areas would receive makeovers and refurbishments, with Disney World’s original Pirates League not surviving the transition.

A new update from BlogMickey reveals that Pirates League has been completely gutted. Disney has stripped the former location right down to the studs, leaving very little theming in place. The location now resembles a new neighborhood development more than a pirate bar, though this will all change soon.

The flooring of Disney’s former Pirates League has also been torn up. As construction continues, merchandise has been moved across the plaza to Tortuga Treasures gift shop, which is itself a new location.

This gift shop replaced Tortuga Tavern, an iconic quick-service location that was featured in Adventureland for many years.

While Disney did not specify when its new Pirates of the Caribbean bar would officially open, guests can expect to see and hear more news about the project in the coming months. The new location is set to open sometime in 2025, a year that’s already filled with excitement.

In 2025, guests can expect several other significant changes for Walt Disney World, like the debut of a new Zootopia-themed show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as the grand opening of Test Track 3.0 at EPCOT.
