Disney apps are getting a much-needed update. Walt Disney World and Disneyland have user-friendly apps for all things Disney when visiting the Resorts. From dining reservations to attraction wait times to photo pass access, the My Disney Experience App is so much more than just a place to hold your Park ticket.

Disney is trying to improve and with that comes a change to Guest needs. The Disney app is a pivotal part of visiting the Parks and having a successful Disney vacation if you’re a planner. Next to the purpose of scanning your ticket to enter the Park, (if you don’t have a magic band), is planning out your day. The app allows Guests to schedule their attractions using Genie+ and Lightning Lane. The newer features replaced Disney’s FastPass, allowing Guests to purchase a quicker way to reserve a ride.

Genie+ began at a minimal $15 per person but has got up to as high as $35 per person. Additionally, Disney has offered individual Lightning Lanes that allow any Guest, with Genie+ or not, with pricing based on the date. Disney’s most popular and newer rides have the offer of Lightning Lanes making it fair for all visitors. Now, Disney has updated a small but mighty feature, making it more user-friendly for Guests.

The new update provides a toggle that allows Guests to switch on attractions that offer the Lightning Lane feature. The filter can be found on the tip board. Additionally, it is on both the Walt Disney World app and the Disneyland app. This change is a useful time-saver for those looking to plan out their day from the very beginning, without missing any attractions they find important to ride.

Scott Gustin called it a “Needed update and easy win.” One Disney Guest commented, “Loving seeing all the small app updates and improvements. Makes me excited to see what the app looks like in ~6 months or a year,” encouraging the small but positive improvement to the Disney apps. Disney wants Guests to explore more magic and cut down on wait times with these in-app purchases.
