Another Guests Claims to Have Been Dress-Coded (and Body-Shamed?) at Disney Parks

Dress code incidents at Disney Parks have taken social media by storm over the past couple of years.

Between influencers sharing “hacks” to get free shirts from Disney by arriving out of dress code, to the “hack” later being debunked (or rather ended due to Guests taking advantage) and actual confusion over what is considered dress code policy at Disney…clothing choices at the Parks have caused some issues to say the least.

In past dress-code incidents, one major reason why Guests have been out of dress code has been due to tops being held together with strings. According to several commenters on social media who have worked at Disney Parks, the string issue is both a safety and dress code policy, as a pulled string could not only cause inappropriate exposure, but it could also be dangerous if caught by things like ride restraints.

The most recent dress code incident to go viral on social media adds potential body-shaming to the mix. One TikToker, @imlacikaysomers, claims that she was dress-coded at Disneyland Park for wearing what appears to be a sports bra or crop top and leggings:

The TikToker also used the #bodyshaming tag, with some commenters therefore implying that she was dress-coded as a form of body-shaming rather than for actually wearing something inappropriate. We should note that her outfit does not contain strings, which is the most commonly cited issue.

While some who commented on the video were quick to point out that other Guests have been allowed to enter the Parks in more revealing clothing, and as one user noted, many runners at any runDisney event would be wearing less, Disney’s official dress-code policy does include this line:

We reserve the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that we consider inappropriate or attire that could detract from the experience of other Guests.

As for the most recent incident, the Guest who claims to be dress-coded is filming the video from inside the Park, presumably out of dress code. It seems inconsistent with past incidents that a Guest who is out of dress code would be allowed to enter the Park without being walked by a Cast Member to the nearest store to purchase a shirt.

And about that “free t-shirt hack,” one TikToker recently visited a Disney Park wearing a string bikini top, only to be told to purchase a shirt to cover up or to leave and come back in appropriate dress. As such, we recommend checking the rules on Disney’s website to ensure that your outfits will be within dress code before you set out to spend a day in the Parks.
