On Saturday, October 10, 2026, emergency services were called to Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster, England, after a guest entered the tiger enclosure. Calls were made to the police at around 1:35 p.m., where emergency personnel began to descend on the popular South Yorkshire wildlife park.
“Emergency services attended, and sadly, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene,” the police force said, via The Guardian.
“The man’s family is aware and is being supported by specialist officers,” the statement continued. “Our thoughts are with them at this distressing time. Regarding rumors surrounding the condition of the tiger, the animal was uninjured and remained in the enclosure following the incident, and there is no wider risk to the public.”
Videos have begun circulating on social media showing a man sitting on the ground in the tiger enclosure as a tiger bites and attacks him. In the footage, the man appears alert, repeatedly pointing and shouting at the animal, and it is unclear what injuries the guest sustained during this incident.

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park was evacuated of all guests following the incident and will remain closed tomorrow. There is no confirmation whether the location will reopen next week. The park addressed the distressing situation on its official website.
“We can confirm that a serious incident has occurred today at the tiger enclosure. Our emergency response procedures were immediately activated, and emergency services are currently attending the scene,” the notice reads. “We are working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened.”
“The safety and well-being of our visitors, staff, and animals remain our highest priority,” it concluded. “The park is now closed and will remain closed on Sunday 11th October.”
The Land of the Tigers is one of the main attractions at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, and houses the two Amur (or Siberian) tigers, Sayan and Tschuna.
“Take a spectacular walk along the 300-meter-long raised walkway above ‘Land of the Tigers’ for the best views of these magnificent big cats,” the official website writes. “Witness the majestic cats freely roaming their woodlands and grasslands or playing in their very own waterfall pool.”

The big cat involved in the incident was not harmed during or after the attack and remained in the enclosure.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park is a wildlife park in Branton, near Doncaster in South Yorkshire, which opened in 2009 on the site of a former farm and riding school. It has since grown into one of the UK’s most popular animal attractions.
Visitors follow trails through themed naturalistic environments where they can see animals in large enclosures, including lions, tigers, giraffes, painted dogs, and lemurs. The park is best known for Project Polar, which houses multiple bears in one of the world’s largest polar bear enclosures.
Alongside its role as a family day out, the park places a strong emphasis on conservation through its charity, the WildLife Foundation, which supports breeding programs and field projects that protect endangered species around the world.
This is a developing story.
