Walt Disney World Resort guests have voiced concerns about safety at the much-celebrated Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attraction.
Although the ride, which debuted at EPCOT in 2022, has received glowing reviews for its innovative design and immersive experience, a growing number of visitors are speaking out about chaotic behavior in the pre-show area, raising worries that such conditions could eventually lead to serious injury.
Cosmic Rewind has already made its mark on the theme park industry as a groundbreaking ride. As EPCOT’s first-ever roller coaster and the first Marvel-themed attraction at Walt Disney World, it has captivated fans of all ages. Blending high-octane thrills with Marvel’s signature humor, the ride takes guests on an intergalactic adventure with Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot. Its Omnicoaster system, which rotates 360 degrees, ensures riders stay in the action, while a soundtrack of classic hits amplifies the high-energy atmosphere.
But while the experience itself remains largely praised, issues have surfaced surrounding the pre-show area.
Many guests have shared troubling reports of aggressive behavior as others rush to board. Shoving, jostling, and pushing to get ahead in line have led some to fear that an accident could be on the horizon.
One frequent visitor to the park, who shared their experience on Reddit, explained, “As an annual passholder, I’ve noticed that it’s getting worse with the shoving during the preshow and once the doors open everyone rushes and runs and almost tramples you over.” They continued, expressing concern for future incidents: “It’s never been this chaotic, and I feel like it’s going to get worse.”
Another guest echoed similar worries, stating, “I feel like there should be a better or safer way. I’m not sure what it would take for Disney to find a solution and I really hope it doesn’t take someone getting really hurt and then they will do something about it.”
The issue extends beyond just Cosmic Rewind. Attractions that feature a pre-show and then require guests to reform into a line afterward are seeing similar frustrations. “Pre-shows with a room this large facilitate this situation,” one user explained. “There is no order or consideration in our post-COVID society, and letting everyone loose in a big room and then telling them all to get back in line is poor design and asking for trouble.”
For those attempting to avoid the stampede, some guests suggest staying to the left side of the room during the preshow, waiting until others have rushed out before exiting themselves. But as many note, such measures shouldn’t be necessary in the first place. Ideally, Disney would address these concerns before a major incident occurs.
