This year is bringing with it new restaurants, shops, and attractions around Walt Disney World, and we cannot wait for some of the most exciting features to debut in the coming months!
Along with the opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run, Disney’s newest thrill ride, in the Magic Kingdom, lots of enhancements are currently underway at EPCOT, including the Park’s newest attraction, Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. This new attraction is not the only exciting news for EPCOT this year; however, as a brand new nighttime fireworks spectacular is in the works for this Disney Park.
During the 2022 D23 Expo last September, Disney confirmed that a brand new nighttime spectacular would replace Harmonious, the performance installed especially for the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Walt Disney World Resort.
While there was no end date confirmed for Harmonious at the time, we can now share that according to the latest update from the Disney Parks Blog, the final showing of Harmonious will take place on April 2, 2023.
While we wait to learn more about the new nighttime fireworks spectacular coming to EPCOT this year, we are excited to share that a returning favorite will be back at the Disney Park for a limited time. (No it isn’t IllumiNations, one could dream though, right?)
EPCOT Forever, which debuted as an interim fireworks show between the end of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth and Harmonious, will once again return to the skies above World Showcase Lagoon. The show will return on April 3, 2023, immediately following the close of Harmonious, and it will be similar to how it originally appeared in 2021 with beloved classic EPCOT songs and a look ahead to the Park’s future.
Another limited-run of EPCOT Forever will give Disney’s entertainment team time to prepare the lagoon for an all-new show, which will include the removal of fireworks platforms installed specifically for Harmonious.
Disney has not yet shared additional details on what the new fireworks show for EPCOT will be like, but we will continue to monitor updates out of the Resort and will report back as we know more here on Disney Tips.
