Vacation season is upon us! Unfortunately, many people still aren’t comfortable flying, and traveling internationally isn’t always possible. Still, road trips are totally doable, and what better place to road trip to than the most magical place on earth? Walt Disney World is ready and waiting for you alongside the hundreds of other visitors looking for ways to vacation with their families this year. Wondering if a trip to Disney World is the right pick for you? Check out these 7 reasons Disney is the place to be this year.

7. Escape the Mundane

We’ve all been home much more than usual as of late. Many of our favorite things to do near home are closed completely or offering a small slice of what they once offered guests. This means more meals at home, fewer fun outings, and less time spent exploring with the family. Walt Disney World offers an escape from this monotony. Here, you can dive into the Disney bubble and have a blast seeing and doing new and exciting things around every corner. This is definitely a welcome change after months of staring at the same house day in and day out.

6. Experience a Little Magic

2020 was rough. It included a lot of negative changes, and for many it was absolutely tragic. For this reason, we’d say some Disney magic is much needed. Fortunately, the magic is not gone from Disney World, and while you will definitely notice some changes, the joy that fills the parks and resorts far outweighs these new rules and alterations. Whether you prefer seeing favorite Disney friends, immersing yourself in other worlds, hopping on as many coasters as possible, or enjoying some Disney treats, you’re sure to find plenty of ways to get in a dose of magic while in Disney World.

5. Stay Super Safe

One of the best things about visiting Disney right now is the fact that, despite being a popular vacation destination, it is probably one of the safest places to visit right now. Things like temperature checks*, strict mask requirements, socially distanced queues, and regular cleaning all come together to create a place where you can feel comfortable enough to let loose and have a good time. Because Disney World is doing such an awesome job keeping everyone so safe, we’d even go so far as to say we feel better about visiting the Disney parks than the grocery store right now. *NOTE: Disney has announced they will be phasing out temperature screenings for guests beginning May 16. See details here.

4. Lower Park Capacity

The biggest complaints about the Disney parks almost always involve the crowds. People don’t appreciate things like being herded like cattle when the fireworks end, having to camp out for an hour for a spot to watch the parade, or waiting in queues for two hours or more. Fortunately, capacity is limited at the moment. This means fewer people in the parks and shorter lines overall. Social distancing rules prevent being squished into spaces like sardines, and the shorter, more frequent “character cavalcades” mean everyone will get a chance to see a parade or two without any waiting at all.

3. New Experiences

Speaking of character cavalcades, another great perk to visiting the parks this year are the new experiences. Yes, some things were removed from the parks for the time being, and yes, we are sad about this. However, we are really loving the character experiences that are now scattered throughout the parks. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing the stepsisters argue in Fantasyland, watching Pooh chase butterflies in Epcot, and seeing Donald throw a fit in Hollywood Studios. We’ve also loved the character cavalcades, and catch at least one every time we visit a park. In addition to all of these new character experiences, there are also some things coming to Disney World toward the end of the year that we are excited about. These include the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride coming to Epcot, as well as the new Cirque Du Soleil show coming to Disney Springs.

2. More Sweet Treats

In addition to the new show, Disney Springs is also playing host to some seriously amazing sweet treats this year. Gideon’s Bakehouse has seen incredibly long lines of folks hoping to enjoy one of their treats, and Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew has some offerings that are to die for. Meanwhile, the new M&M Store is a wonderful place to spend some time during a day in the Springs. Our recommendations? The huge chocolate chip cookies at Gideon’s Bakehouse, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Donut at Everglazed Donuts and Cold Brew, and the “mermaid mix” of M&Ms from the M&M Store.

1. Celebrate the Anniversary

Finally, we must mention that 2021 is Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary! What does this mean for you? It means a new entrance, a dolled-up castle, a new look for Mickey and Minnie, exclusive merchandise, new treats, and more. It’s all of the magic of Disney multiplied, and it all begins October 1st, 2021. We highly recommend visiting during this fantastic celebration. It’s going to be a good one!
