Disney World 2026: Why You Should Reconsider Staying at a Value Resort

Planning a Walt Disney World vacation in 2026 can feel overwhelming once you start looking at resort prices. Deluxe Resorts come with impressive theming, signature restaurants, and premium locations, but they also come with premium pricing that can dramatically increase the total cost of a family trip. That is why more guests are beginning to ask an important question: is it actually better to stay at a Disney Value Resort instead?

For many families, the answer may honestly be yes.

Disney Value Resorts have quietly become one of the smartest ways to experience a Disney vacation without sacrificing the perks that matter most. While these resorts do not include every luxury amenity found at Moderate or Deluxe Resorts, they still offer the core Disney benefits that many guests care about the most.

That means guests still get early park entry, Disney transportation, immersive theming, recreation, dining, and access to the “Disney bubble” at a much lower nightly rate.

Disney Value Resorts Are Not “Cheap” Experiences

One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding Disney Value Resorts is that they feel low quality or overly basic. In reality, Disney’s Value Resorts are still fully themed Disney hotels with large pools, Disney entertainment, food courts, gift shops, transportation access, and constant Cast Member activities.

The biggest differences usually come down to things like:

  • No table-service restaurants
  • Smaller room sizes
  • Fewer luxury amenities
  • Simpler pool designs without major slides

But if your family plans to spend most of the day inside the parks anyway, many of those differences suddenly become much less important.

In fact, some guests actually prefer Value Resorts because they feel more energetic and family-focused than some of Disney’s quieter Deluxe properties.

The Pools Are Better Than People Expect

A lot of guests assume Value Resorts have tiny or forgettable pools. That could not be further from the truth.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is home to the Big Blue Pool, which is actually the largest hotel pool anywhere on Disney property. The resort also includes the Cozy Cone Pool and Flippin’ Fins Pool, all featuring heavy Disney and Pixar theming.

Nearby, Disney’s Pop Century Resort includes three separate pools themed around different decades:

  • Hippy Dippy Pool
  • Bowling Pool
  • Computer Pool

The All-Star Resorts also offer multiple large pools with giant Disney icons and themed recreation spaces.

For many families with younger kids, these pools are more than enough.

There Is Constant Entertainment Around the Resorts

Another overlooked part of staying at a Disney Value Resort is how much there actually is to do outside the parks.

Throughout the day, Cast Members host poolside games, trivia contests, relay races, dance parties, and other family activities.

Every resort also includes large arcades for indoor entertainment, which becomes especially useful during Florida storms or brutal summer heat.

At night, Disney continues the experience with complimentary campfires and Movies Under the Stars. Families can roast marshmallows together before settling in for outdoor Disney movie screenings.

These smaller moments often become some of the most memorable parts of the vacation.

The Food Courts Are Surprisingly Convenient

Value Resorts do not offer signature dining experiences, but many guests actually prefer the flexibility of the food courts.

Instead of needing reservations or lengthy sit-down meals, guests can quickly grab breakfast before rope drop or easily pick up dinner after a long park day. Disney’s food courts also offer:

  • Mobile ordering
  • Multiple food stations
  • Bakery items
  • Pizza
  • Burgers
  • Salads
  • International dishes
  • Kid-friendly options

For families juggling picky eaters or tight schedules, that convenience matters.

Some guests even argue the food court setup works better than certain Deluxe Resort quick-service locations.

Disney Transportation Is Still Included

One of the biggest advantages of staying at any Disney Resort is transportation, and Value Resorts still receive the same complimentary transportation perks as more expensive hotels, though the type of transportation can vary depending on where you stay.

That includes:

  • Buses to all four theme parks
  • Transportation to Disney Springs
  • Access to water parks
  • Free standard parking at the parks
  • Free overnight resort parking

But two Value Resorts have an even bigger advantage.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort both sit directly on the Disney Skyliner route.

That means guests can fly above traffic straight into EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios without needing buses. For many adults and couples, that transportation perk alone makes Pop Century one of the best values on Disney property.

Family Suites Can Save Larger Groups Money

A lot of people assume bigger families automatically need Deluxe Villas or multiple hotel rooms. That is not necessarily true anymore.

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s All-Star Music Resort both offer Family Suites that sleep up to six guests.

These suites include:

  • A master bedroom
  • Two bathrooms
  • A kitchenette
  • Pull-down sleeping spaces
  • Additional living room space

For larger families, that setup can sometimes cost less than booking two separate standard rooms elsewhere on property.

The Biggest Advantage Might Be the 2026 Disney Perks

This is where Value Resorts become incredibly hard to ignore.

Even though they are Disney’s least expensive onsite hotels, guests still receive many of the exact same planning advantages as Deluxe guests.

That includes:

  • Early Theme Park Entry every day
  • Ability to purchase Lightning Lane passes seven days before arrival
  • The 60+10 dining reservation booking window

The only thing they don’t get is Extended Evening Hours.

Those benefits can seriously impact the quality of a Disney trip.

Getting Lightning Lane access earlier than off-site guests can completely change your ride strategy during crowded seasons. The same goes for dining reservations, especially if your family wants difficult reservations like Space 220, Cinderella’s Royal Table, or Topolino’s Terrace.

Disney is also offering complimentary water park admission on check-in day for guests arriving between May 26 and September 8, 2026.

That bonus becomes even more valuable for families trying to maximize every dollar of their vacation.

So… Is Staying at a Disney Value Resort Better?

For many guests, honestly, yes.

If your priority is spending maximum time inside the parks while still enjoying Disney perks, Value Resorts are probably the smartest choice on property right now.

You still receive:

  • Disney theming
  • Early park access
  • Transportation
  • Recreation
  • Dining
  • Shopping
  • Disney atmosphere
  • Resort entertainment

And you can often save hundreds or even thousands of dollars compared to Deluxe accommodations.

That extra money can instead go toward:

  • Lightning Lane purchases
  • Dining experiences
  • Souvenirs
  • Extra park days
  • Special events
  • Future trips

Which Disney Value Resort Is the Best?

When fans debate the best Disney Value Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort usually ends up at the top of the list.

The resort combines:

  • Massive Disney theming
  • Skyliner access
  • Family Suites
  • Strong dining options
  • Disney’s largest resort pool

However, Disney’s Pop Century Resort has developed an enormous following too because of its lower pricing and Skyliner convenience.

Meanwhile, the All-Star Resorts remain some of the cheapest ways to stay fully inside the Disney bubble.

At the end of the day, the “best” resort depends on what your family values most. But one thing has become increasingly clear in 2026: Disney Value Resorts are no longer viewed as the “budget” compromise. For many travelers, they are simply the smartest way to do Disney.
