The Jurassic World saga has proven highly lucrative for Universal Pictures. Even beyond the four films – Jurassic World(2015), Fallen Kingdom (2018), Dominion (2022), and Rebirth (2025) – the rebranding has extended into other corners of entertainment.

Jurassic World Has Taken Over

We’ve seen several seasons of the animated TV shows Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory on Netflix, and longstanding Jurassic attractions at Universal Studios resorts receiving full overhauls to match the aesthetics of the 2015 revival film, as well as altogether-new rides like VelociCoaster, all of which continue to attract guests from all over the world.

There have also been touring exhibitions such as Jurassic World: The Experience and incredibly popular interactive additions to the franchise including the mobile game Jurassic World: Alive and, more notably, the Jurassic World Evolution series.

The Original Jurassic Park Era Is Returning

Now, a brand-new Jurassic project is in development, however, Universal has temporarily abandoned the World banner to return to the original Park era. While the new film that’s rumored to be in early development will more than likely continue under the former name given the success of the past four films, the next official installment will bring back the original Jurassic Park name.

Jurassic Park: Survival (TBA) from Saber Interactive might be a video game, but it’s also a sequel to the original film by Steven Spielberg. In fact, the upcoming first-person action-adventure title is the most direct sequel in the franchise.

While every sequel in the series, from The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) through Jurassic World Rebirth, picks up a few years after its predecessor, Survival takes place just 24 hours after the 1993 classic.

It follows a new character named Dr. Maya Joshi (voiced and performed by Payal Mistry), an InGen scientist who was hired by Dr. Henry Wu. However, Joshi has failed to evacuate the island with all her co-workers and must now use stealth, intelligence, and all the resources available to her to outlast some of the deadliest prehistoric creatures to walk the earth.

Players will explore “a fully realized Isla Nublar” teeming with “reactive” dinosaurs and other wildlife. From familiar locations such as the Visitor Center and the park gates, to never-before-seen areas like a resort hotel and other dinosaur paddocks, “Jurassic Park comes alive like never before,” as stated on the official website.

Whether the next film in the series will indeed fall under the World banner remains to be seen, but if Survival proves to be a huge success in its own right, we may finally see the franchise return to the Park era on the big screen.
